Flemington Racing Tips: Saturday August 2nd 2025

August 1st 2025, 2:37pm, By: Brendan Bunworth

Flemington Racing Tips

Flemington will host nine races on Saturday and we have a Group 3 race headline the day with the running of the Aurie’s Star Handicap. The race comes up on race 7 on the card and the French bred Splash Back is the current $2.40 favourite. The track is predicted to be a Soft5 but a Good track during the day is not out of the question with the sun shining over Flemington at the time of typing.

Brendan Bunworth has done the form to bring you his three Flemington best bets for day as well as his Quaddie selections. If you’re after more free tips for this weekend’s key meetings, then head over to our Racing Tips page!

Flemington Racing Tips: Saturday, August 2nd 2025

Race 1: TAB We’re On - 12:15pm (AEST)

(4) Exit should get a lovely run from barrier 1 and I can see him settling 3rd behind the leader in this. The Danny O’Brien gelding has won on the Soft already in his short career. Last start he settled in 3rd at Geelong and his turn on foot was very impressive before winning by 3.75L, starting as favourite. Williams is off but Shinn is on so we lose nothing there.

(2) Crossbow will settle next to Exit in the run I reckon and the Waller gelding was unlucky at Randwick last start when 2nd and really shouldn’t be a maiden anymore.

(1) Hillier is 1 from 1 on the Soft and he did win well at Newcastle last start. Is up in class here though.

(3) Our Chief is the second fav and and is going for two in a row. Numbers 1-4 look as though they will figure in the finish.

(4) Exit

$2.05 (4 Units)

Race 4: Jockeys Celebration Day Sprint - 2pm (AEST)

(9) Documentary goes up to the 1100m after running on very well from near last at Flemington last start (6th). He got too far back on that occasion and found the distance too short. He was only a head of running 3rd there and Jamie Melham is sticking with him here. He is 1 from 1 when second up and will obviously need a little luck in the run because he will be near last early.

(3) Eye Of The Fire is fitter being third up and he does enjoy running on Soft tracks. He is versatile because sometimes he gets back in the run but he does have the ability to run on pace.

(6) Call To Glory has drawn barrier 1 and that is a worry if they are coming down the outside of the Flemington straight. Has won over this distance previously though.

(1) South Of India has a tremendous winning strike rate and he might lead this field. Led but got tired over the 1100m at Rosehill last time so won’t want a fast tempo here.

(9) Documentary

$3.00 (2 Units)

Race 5: VRC Spring Gala Plate - 2:35pm (AEST)

(14) Federer has drawn nicely in 2 and is the best of the day if the track gets an upgrade to Good which is a possibility. At Randwick last start he was midfield and ran on nicely for 3rd and he probably should have won that with more luck. Up to the 2000m for the first time which looks ideal and Flemington looks as though it will suit. Hasn’t won in 11 months though and he is short in the market.

(1) Aztec State has drawn a bit wide in 12 which is a slight concern but is another one who will appreciate a Dry track if it doesn’t rain in the 24 hours prior to the race.

(5) Euphoric is running very poorly but is better than this. If they go very hard up front he can run on very well at double figure odds.

(14) Federer

$2.40 (3 Units)
