The Everest 2019 Odds

October 15th 2019, 1:53am, By: admin

The 2019 TAB Everest is set to be run at Royal Randwick on Saturday, October 19th, with the $14million prize purse making it the richest turf race in the world.

The inaugural winner of The Everest was the Peter & Paul Snowden-trained Redzel in a time of 1:08.36. He represented slot-holder James Harron Bloodstock and Triple Crown Sydnications. He was ridden by Kerrin McEvoy and defeated Vega Magic by 0.8 lengths, with Brave Smash back in third.

Returning a year later, Redzel once again won The Everest, this time by leading all-the-way with McEvoy again in the saddle. This time, he represented Yulong Investments and Triple Crown Syndications. The 2018 edition was run on heavy ground and Redzel clocked a winning time of 1:12.03. He defeated Trapeze Artist by 1.3 lengths, while a further 1.5 lengths away in third place was Osborne Bulls.

The Everest 2019 Odds

Can Redzel scale The Everest in 2019 and make it a hattrick of victories in the race? He's currently rated a $9.50 chance with Sportsbet, with many believing he needs a wet track to win again.

Bookmakers and punters alike are having a hard time splitting Santa Ana Lane and Pierata for favouritism. Santa Ana Lane is arguably the best sprinter in the country and the five-time Group 1 winner returned with a terrific effort behind Sunlight in the Gilgai Stakes. Pierata, on the other hand, shot into favouritism in some places with victory in the G2 The Shorts, where he defeated fellow Everest contenders Classique Legend and Redzel.

Close up in the market is WA-owned mare Arcadia Queen, who couldn't have been more impressive on her debut for the Chris Waller stable when she trounced rivals in the G2 Theo Marks Stakes. The 4YO has now won six of her seven career starts, but will she be able to match it with the best sprinters in the land over 1200m?

Chris Waller also has three-year-old colt Yes Yes Yes and the polarizing Nature Strip engaged.

The royal blue army will be dual-represented with Alizee and Trekking. Alizee has taken the slot held by Godolphin, while Trekking gained the slot held by the Melbourne Racing Club with his victory in the Schillachi Stakes at Caulfield.

The Aidan O'Brien-trained Ten Sovereigns will be the sole international runner in the race. He joins In Her Time at the bottom end of the market.
