Esports Betting Tips: Wednesday, June 17th

June 17th 2020, 11:20am, By: Michael Lee

We're back with more great esports betting tips from the online world of CS:GO and Dota2. We take a look at the key match ups for the day from the BLAST Premier Spring and Wisla Krakow tournaments.

Esports Betting Tips: Wednesday, June 17th

Team Liquid vs Evil Geniuses

BLAST Premier Spring 2020 Europe Finals

The last time Team Liquid and Evil Geniuses met was two months ago in the finals of ESL Pro League Season 11 North America, where Liquid won 3-0 with 16-11 on Dust2 and 16-9 on Vertigo. Keith 'NAF' Markovic was the best performing player for Liquid that day with 1.65 HLTV rating, while Vincent 'Brehze' Cayonte ended the series as the only player of EG with a positive HLTV rating (1.09).

Evil Geniuses are coming into this match with only one defeat in their last five matches. They lost to MIBR, secured close wins over 100 Thieves, Cloud9 and Gen.G, and played a 15-15 draw against Triumph. Those are not exactly great results for this team, especially with the high-quality players on the roster.

Team Liquid did not look much better in recent weeks with their 0-3 defeat against FURIA in the finals of DreamHack Masters, but they at least hold a strong record against EG, which indicates they should have an edge heading into this match. EG are in a terrible spot now and until they find some serious stability, I can't trust them to defeat Liquid, who should come out ahead with another clean sweep.

Wisla Krakow

HAVU – LOOT.BET Season 7

After losing to Spirit in the ESL Pro League Season 12 Europe Qualifier, HAVU will hope they can bounce back against Wisla Krakow at LOOT.BET Season 7. In their match against Spirit, HAVU failed to reach double digits on both maps, which was very disappointing, considering HAVU were on a four-game winning streak prior to it. The Finnish squad also won BLAST Rising 2020, so I expected to see a bit more from them even though BLAST Rising 2020 did not feature any big-name teams.

Wisla Krakow, on the other hand, have not looked too sharp lately. They struggled with fielding a proper roster which was seen in their poor results across the last couple of months. Most recently, they crashed out of the Home Sweet Home Cup 8 after losing to Hard Legion and AGF, but at least managed a somewhat solid record at the ESEA MDL Season 34 Europe, where Wisla Krakow won five out of eight matches played.

Both of the teams are coming into the match following a loss in the LOOT.BET Season 7. Wisla Krakow did not measure up to HONORIS (a newly established team from Polish CS:GO veterans), while HAVU lost 1-2 against Gambit Youngsters, who are a fairly decent tier two CIS team. Despite their shaky results, I have no issues seeing HAVU as a stronger team here. They are a class above Wisla Krakow and should win this bout with their eyes closed. Bet on HAVU to win without dropping a single map!

Execration vs 496 Gaming

Asia Summer Championship

Execration and 496 Gaming will meet on the third competitive day of Asia Summer Championship in what will be their third meeting since the start of May. Execration and 496 Gaming first met in the group stage of Cyber.bet Cup: Spring Series - SEA, where Execration won 2-0 but lost the second meeting in the second round of the playoffs 1-2.

496 Gaming are entering this match with a 3-3-4 record from their last 10 matches, while Execration failed to win a single match out of their last 10. Although Execration's record is far worse compared to that of 496 Gaming, we have to consider Execration participated at BTS Pro Series Season 2: Southeast Asia, where they faced much tougher opponents. Additionally, 496 Gaming played only two games in the last two weeks and only eight games across the last month.

The lack of playtime of 496 Gaming is worrying and although they defeated Execration, their most recent bout was very close. Nevertheless, Execration's poor performances so far this tournament make it hard to trust them here and until this team starts performing better consistently, we have to bet on 496 Gaming to claim the W.
