Esports Betting Tips: Monday, June 27th

Esports Monday Betting Tips

The League of Legends summer split has only just started, and Michael Lee is here with his betting previews for a handful of LoL games on Monday, June 27. Today he looks at two LoL Pro League matches in OMG vs LGD Gaming and JD Gaming vs TunderTalk Gaming, and one  League of Legends Circuit Oceania match between MAMMOTH and ORDER.

OMG vs LGD Gaming

LPL  2022 Summer

OMG got off to a rough start to the summer season, having picked up just two wins from the opening two weeks. But the 3-1 record does not do OMG justice, knowing that they had won a map against Rare Atom, JD Gaming, and defeated LNG Esports (2-1), who are one of the top LPL teams.

Like OMG, LGD Gaming have won just one match this split (1-2) against Anyone’s Legend but lost their remaining two against JD Gaming and Victory Five. I wouldn’t hold it against LGD for losing against JDG and V5, but this team has not impressed me.

They had their moments, but LGD look the same they’ve been in the last two splits. Still, this is a very aggressive early-game squad which could surprise OMG, who might struggle to fight their way back if they fall too far behind.

OMG have looked quite awful early into the summer season, but they did squeak in a win against RA and won a map against JDG, so it’s not fair to say that they’re a bad team. However, OMG looked terrible in their losses – essentially, they get destroyed when they lose.

This is an interesting match between two teams I am least excited about. Fundamentally, LGD are worse, but OMG are highly unpredictable. Anything can happen in this match, so I’ll follow what we know about the current patch and how the teams like to play. Over 24.5 kills is the play.

JD Gaming vs ThunderTalk Gaming

LPL 2022 Summer

I have no clear favourites to win the LPL title, but I would genuinely not be surprised if JD Gaming win it. But at the same time, I would also be surprised if they reach the top without showing a bit more consistency.

Despite being 5-0, JD Gaming dropped a map against UltraPrime and OMG last week but completely destroyed their opponents in the remaining two. Clearly, JD Gaming are good enough to stomp weaker teams, but they’re not consistent enough to win 2-0.

ThunderTalk lost this match 0-2 back in LPL 2022 Spring Week 8 when they got outclassed by JDG Gaming. Notably, though, JDG were on a hot streak at the time, which saw them end the season on a streak of six clean sweeps – ThunderTalk Gaming being one of them.

This season, ThunderTalk have shown some improvement, but they continue struggling to keep ahold of leads, and they have a bad habit of giving up leads. They’re at least getting ahead, which could work in their favour assuming JDG have one of “those games”, but realistically, expecting TT gaming to win this match or at least one map is wishful thinking.

It wouldn’t shock me if JD Gaming choke and lose one map, but the chances of that happening are far lower than 50%. I like JD Gaming to cover the map handicap and win 2-0.

MAMMOTH vs ORDER

LCO Split 2

MAMMOTH scraped two wins from the first three weeks of the second split, including Ws against the current bottom team (Gravitas) and an upset victory against PEACE. Not very good results in my book but a fair tally for what they’ve shown.

MAMMOTH are statistically the second-worst team in LCO with 0.66KD, and a -308 gold difference per minute, while they manage just 12.5 kills and 18.8 deaths per game. Those figures don’t mean much since they are taken from just six games, but it’s fair to say that MAMMOTH’s position on the leaderboard is fair.

ORDER are an entirely different story. As one of Australia’s most recognisable esports organisations, ORDER ar also one of the top Oceanic LoL teams. They might not be the best currently (3-3), but I have a hard time believing they’re anything less than a top-four team.

They are enjoying a very up-and-down season, having ended each of the three weeks 1-1. That includes defeats against Chiefs, Pentanet.gg, and Dire Wolves, who are the current top-three teams, but I have to add that ORDER were a bit unlucky in a couple of the games.

There is no hiding the fact that ORDER are much stronger than MAMMOTH, and even though we could see some weird results in Patch 12.11, I wouldn’t say that the added variance of the new patch can help MAMMOTH overcome a stronger opponent.

At 1.12 ORDER are clear favourites but not worth a bet, nor would I recommend anyone to bet on ORDER covering an 11-5 kill handicap. It’s a very large number to overcome, especially in the current meta, which sees the games drag out into the late game while the final outcomes heavily rely on late-game teamfights. Therefore, a bet on MAMMOTH +11.5 kills is appealing, but I prefer over 27.5 total kills.

ORDER have been averaging at least 14.3 kills per game – mind against stronger opponents, while MAMMOTH tend to collect at least 12.5 per game. And with games slowly picking up the pace, we can expect a high-scoring match on Monday.
