Welcome to our preview and horse racing betting tips for racing at Caulfield on Wednesday, January 9th.
After nailing two from two last Wednesday, we’re looking to produce similar results today with just the three betting races from the eight available at Caulfield.

CAULFIELD RACING TIPS
RACE 1
There’s been an enormous go for the Nick Ryan first-starter Columbus Circle here, who has been backed from $7.50 to $2.90, but I think we’re getting a terrific price about the Weir-trained Monarch Court at $8.50. He’s had one career start at Werribee, where he finished 5th beaten 2.8L. It was a forgivable run though, as he was held up at the 200m, had to be steadied and then got out and going again late. Mark Zahra is a strong jockey booking and from the good barrier I think we’ll see this horse improve today. They often do from this yard when they come to town after losing in the country. Each way price appeals, more to place than win.
RACE 7
Rossman has always showed a bit of talent and he returned to the races with a good win at Mornington over 1200m. He now steps straight up to the 1440m, which is the distance of his previous two career wins. Last prep he was running well behind the likes of Iconoclasm and Mr Money Bags, which is great form for a midweek race like this. I thin he's open to more improvement having only had eight career starts, so despite carrying the big weight today, he should be very competitive. Barrier 1 is to his aid as he'll get a soft run but he just needs another good ride from Andrew Mallyon.
RACE 8
Teodora will be carrying plenty of punters in the last at Caulfield, including myself. I backed her last start at good odds when she worked home very strongly for 3rd at Flemington over the mile. She now steps up to 2000m third up and she looks as if she’s returning to her best form, which would likely see her win this. She’s drawn wide with a big weight but I think she’s up to better races than a BM70 on a Wednesday. I’d be saving on her stablemate Beetobe with $7 still available.
