Just a few episodes into this year’s season of ‘The Block’ and some couples are already under the pump to finish their first official room, the main bathroom.
Betting is underway for the 2017 season with the young couple Josh and Elyse opening as $2.75 favourites at Sportsbet. If you fancy them, however, William Hill have them at $4 to win even after their great start to the main bathroom.
Opening as favourites at William Hill is Ronnie and Georgia. The married couple won the challenge room in the opening week which meant they got to choose their house first. As expected, they went with the middle of the five houses, which was the biggest and also contained a secret safe.
Inside the safe was an extra $50,000 in cash and vouchers and the ability to top up their budget after challenge room from one of the other teams kitty. The two chose to take the $8,600 from the threats in Josh and Elyse which caused a bit of uproar in just the second episode.
Coming in just behind the two main favourites on the betting list are the loveable larrikins Sticks and Wombat. The two best mates hail from the South Coast of NSW and both have experience in renovating their own homes so should be a formidable pair.
Bringing up the rear in the betting markets is Queensland married couple Hannah and Clint. Clint Amos is a former NRL player who played for the Cowboys and Titans and Hannah is a flight attendant. The two have no renovating experience much like the couple in last place in all of the betting agencies, Jason and Sarah.
Jason and Sarah are a married couple from Victoria who are already behind the 8-ball in main bathroom week. They have been renovating their own house for 10 years and are still yet to finish.
So far it’s tough to look past the top two favourites. Ronnie and Georgia have the experience and they also have the added $50,000 and the biggest house. In saying that, their house does need the most work and it doesn’t even have a roof at present. Josh and Elyse seem the most together and have experience renovating their own home so they should be dangerous.
With this year being the first time the contestants have renovated full sized houses, it should make for a very interesting season! We’ll check back later in the year with some updated betting tips and odds, but for now you can check out the odds at both Sportsbet and William Hill, at least one of whom will offer great odds for anyone you fancy.
