We’re back at Blundstone Arena for Game 11 of the BBL10 season on Sunday. The ladder is starting to take shape with teams and players now fully into the swing of the season.
The Sydney Sixers take on the Adelaide Strikers in a match where both teams are coming off wins, and will be in search for their second victory of the season. The match on Sunday starts at the unusual time of 11:10am AEDT so be sure to set that alarm clock!
The Strikers come into this off an impressive 5-wicket win over the 2nd placed Hurricanes while the Sixers are carrying in some momentum of their own after a monster 145-run victory against the Renegades a week ago. Both sides started the season with a loss but have now bounced back and will be looking to make it two wins from three matches to start the tournament.
This match centres around a huge clash between the two wicket keepers in Josh Philippe and Alex Carey. Philippe comes into this after posting the highest ever individual score for the Sixers with 95 off 57 balls while Carey returned from international duty to guide his side home to victory with 50 off 44 balls against the Hurricanes.

Match Prediction
This match looks set up to be a close one between two even teams on paper. As mentioned before, the performance of both keepers is going to be crucial to their respective team’s today. The Strikers were extremely impressive on Tuesday Night and we saw a strong all round performance with both the bat and ball. The Sixers on the other hand completely dominated the Renegades in what was one of the biggest wins in BBL history.
With all that being said, I am tipping the Sixers to come out on top here in a tight one. They arguably should be 2-0 after throwing away a certain victory in the season opener and their batsmen and bowlers all seem to be firing. They sent a warning out to the rest of the competition last Sunday and that performance just can’t be ignored.
Philippe can get them off to a flyer at the top of the order while the bowlers, led by Ben Dwarshius have been performing well so far this season. The addition of Dan Christian has been a good one with the all-rounder adding some valuable experience to the team and looks to have settled in well with his new side. All signs point to a clinical Sixers performance and I just think they look the safe pick against a Strikers side which can be rocks and diamonds more often than not.
The Sixers also hold a winning record over the Strikers with 7 wins in 12 BBL matches over the years. They have also won the last four meetings against the boys in blue so you can safely say they enjoy playing against the Strikers in recent times.
Sydney Sixers Prop Bet
I have mentioned key man Josh Philippe a couple of times already so you may be able to guess who I’ll be targeting for our Sixers prop bet here. It’s simply too hard to ignore the display he put on last Sunday against the Renegades and looks an international player in the making. His ability to score runs all around the ground against all types of bowling is a skill which is key in T20 cricket.
He smashed 83 not out off 50 odd balls against the Strikers last season so you can say he doesn’t mind taking on the Adelaide bowlers. Combine this with the early season form he is in and I think we have to back him to go well again.

Adelaide Strikers Prop Bet
Another player we mentioned earlier in the preview is Australian ODI wicket keeper Alex Carey. He returned from international duty last game where he came in at a crucial time in the Strikers innings and steadied the ship to win them the match. He has the class edge over a lot of the players in this match and will enjoy the responsibility in leading his side here.
The batting line-up for the Strikers doesn’t look particularly strong which makes Carey an appealing selection. He will probably come in at number 3 or 4 so will still have enough overs to play with to pile on the runs. He looked in good touch the other night and I am confident he can give us another good sight.
