Racing in WA on Saturday is headlined by the nine-race program at Belmont. The feature race is in Race 8 at 5:55pm AEST, which is the Belmont Classic over 2200m. The rail is out 9m the entirety and our selections are for a GOOD/SOFT track with showers predicted between now and race day. Belmont Racing Tips: Saturday, July 15th 2023
Race 3: Tabtouch-Wspeed Platinum RS0LY 1400m – 2:46pm AEST
(9) DIFFERENTIATOR – willing to forgive the LS effort when she was heavily backed (SP’d $2.10) and didn’t fire over the mile. Her start prior was brilliant over this track/trip when she came from last and beat them all by 2L eased down (beat WITHOUT REG that day / ties in with MISS VASARI). Comes back to 1400m today and draws a better gate to sit handier in transit. Pike sticks and I note there’s been early market support since opening. She can hit back hard.
(2) MISS VASARI – Last start winner by over 2L. Back to best form and can give this a shake up. Proven on the soft and should be rock hard fit.
(9) DIFFERENTIATOR - Win

Race 8: Montague Belmont Classic 2200m – 5:55pm AEST
(2) UPPER LIMITS – comes through the Aquinita Stakes and Belmont Guineas leading into this (ties in with DEMOLISH) and he’s been super in both. Two-back it took an extraordinary ride / TOF from RUSTY DREAMS to beat him over the mile before he went to 2000m in the Guineas, was caught last turning for home yet hooked widest and went past them all to win (excellent finale / DEMOLISH had run of the race and he still beat him). Draws a better gate today so I doubt he’ll have to give them such a big head start, and the extra furlong doesn’t look to be an issue to my eye. I note Pike has jumped off to stick with IHTS CLOSING INN but I’m happy this way, particularly at the price. (2 units win)
(9) SECRET ATTRACTION – this filly comes through the other key form race behind IHTS CLOSING INN where she produced a sneaky good run to finish third behind that runner. This is only start 4 in her career and if her LS performance was anything to go by, she should eat 2200m. She’ll likely go back from the wide draw and need a genuine tempo / no leader bias, but she was clearly the run of the race for mine in the Belmont Oaks. IHTS CLOSING INN had the run of the race and didn’t look to be that strong through the line / has been up for a while. This girl has plenty of upside and will take natural improvement from the run (fourth up and ready). I think she can win. (1 unit win)

Race 9: Amelia Park BM72 1200m – 6:35pm AEST
(11) HARDLY EVER – Backed him first up where he looked a big sniff but was no match for them. Gets second up now and big odds. Rises in class but should be all the better for the run now. Terrific second up record and record on the soft track. Each way roughie of the day.
(13) COLOSSAL – Pike in the last is always dangerous and worth a stab! Has a nice record and won well last start on the heavy deck. Rises to 1200m where he is proven. Goes well.
