Match Prediction

It was an absolutely elite bowling performance by the Heat in the eliminator on Friday night, keeping the strikers to just 130 on the back of five wickets from leg spinners Marnus Labuschagne and Mitch Swepson. The win catapulted the Heat into the knockout against the awaiting Thunder, who by Sunday, will not have played a game since all the way back on Monday the 25th.

The Thunder also had a strong win over the Strikers in that game, keeping them to just 115 in a reduced 14 over game and chasing the runs down with 11 balls to spare. Their batting line-up has been in dominant form of late, particularly opener Alex Hales, who has plundered 535 runs at an average of 41.15 this season, including 54, 29, 110, 10 and 63 in his last five innings.

The Heat were great with the ball but didn’t look ultra-convincing with the bat in their win over the Strikers. They will need to be much better against the Thunder if they want to be competitive, and a lot of pressure will be on the shoulders of skipper Chris Lynn. The Thunder start as slight favourites for this clash and we are leaning towards them due to their dominant batting line-up.

The Sydney Sixers are the only other team outside of the Thunder to clear the 200 run mark in a single innigns this season, while the Thunder have done it on three separate occasions. In their two games against the Heat this season, they put up monster scores of 174 and 180 with seven balls still left in the innings. Back their batting to be too strong for the Heat here.

Really like the look of Callum Ferguson in this clash against the Heat. The Thunder skipper has squared off against Brisbane on 11 occasions and has plundered 282 runs at a very healthy average of 31.33. he has been great over the past four Thunder games, scoring 23, 42, 22 and 46 including a n.o. in the last game as he steered his team to victory against the Strikers.

Ferguson also has a strong record at Manuka Oval. He has played 11 games there and scored 319 runs at an average of 35.44. Loves to play the steadying hand through the middle overs, coming in after the aggressive openers, so often passes his run line in second gear before ramping up the shot-making later in the innings.

How can you go past skipper Chris Lynn with his record against the Thunder. He has played 13 games against the lime green and smashed 566 runs at a ridiculous average of 56.60. Against the Thunder this season, Lynn smashed 69 off 44 balls and 30 off 16 balls in back to back games back at the start of the season.

He also has a great record at Manuka Oval, having scored 139 runs at an average of 46.33 across three games. Lynn has dominated this season and sits behind only Hales and Josh Philippe on the top runscorers list. Back him to top the Heat runs.
