2026 AFLW Round 7 Betting Tips

Geelong vs Hawthorn

Thursday 7:15pm AEST, GMHBA Stadium, Geelong

Geelong returns to GMHBA Stadium after flexing their attacking muscles in a 90-49 demolition of Collingwood at Victoria Park. The Cats' ball movement was slick and their forwards capitalised on clean supply, but they now face a Hawthorn side arriving fresh off the greatest victory in the club's AFLW history.

Hawthorn sent shockwaves through the competition in Round 6, ending North Melbourne's record 32-game winning streak with a heroic 32-25 triumph in tropical Cairns. Pulling off that upset without injured skipper Emily Bates made the defensive masterclass even more remarkable. Jasmine Fleming stood tall in the engine room with 25 disposals, while ruck Lucy Wales snapped the sealing goal in the dying stages. The Hawks suffocated the reigning premiers through relentless tackling, holding them to a solitary goal after half-time.

While Geelong's outside run poses a genuine threat on their home deck, Hawthorn has proven their contested pressure can completely dismantle elite transition sides. Expect the Hawks to carry that immense belief down the highway, drag Geelong into a physical scrap, and claim another scalp.

Hawthorn to Win

$2.05 (1 Unit)

Essendon vs West Coast

Friday 12:05pm AEST, Windy Hill, Melbourne

Essendon remains at Windy Hill searching for answers after a dismal 10-51 defeat to Gold Coast in Round 6. The Bombers were completely suffocated by the Suns, managing just one goal for the entire match. They now face a confident West Coast outfit fresh off a gritty 36-25 road victory over St Kilda at RSEA Park.

The Eagles adapted brilliantly to Victoria's windy conditions last week, dictating territory and shutting down the Saints' transition. West Coast possesses the structural discipline to exploit an Essendon side currently starved of confidence and scoring avenues. Expect the Eagles to control the stoppages and clear the handicap against the struggling Bombers.

West Coast -12.5

$1.90 (1 Unit)

Western Bulldogs vs Port Adelaide

Friday 2:05pm AEST, Mission Whitten Oval, Melbourne

Tam Hyett's Western Bulldogs are surging. They vaulted back into the top eight after securing a mature 40-30 victory over Fremantle in wind-affected conditions at Cockburn ARC Oval last week. The long-awaited return of Ellie Blackburn from a hamstring injury provided immediate class, but it was Isabelle Pritchard who truly tore the game open with 21 disposals, six clearances, and a crucial goal.

Port Adelaide arrives in Melbourne facing a severe tactical headache. The Power were comfortably held at arm's length in a 41-27 loss to Sydney at Alberton Oval in Round 6, managing just three goals for the match. Confronting a confident Bulldogs engine room on their home deck, Port Adelaide simply lacks the transition firepower to keep pace. The home side should be able to do enough to cover the 9.5-point handicap.

Western Bulldogs -9.5

$1.90 (1 Unit)

Carlton vs Richmond

Friday 4:00pm AEST, IKON Park, Melbourne

Carlton returns to IKON Park eager to respond after a 58-24 defeat to an unbeaten Melbourne outfit at Casey Fields in Round 6. Despite the final margin, the Blues showcased genuine midfield grit against premium opposition. Claudia Whitfort battled tirelessly for 24 disposals, 10 tackles, and six clearances, while Irish duo Dayna Finn and Erone Fitzpatrick provided a vital spark in transition. They now host a Richmond side that narrowly escaped with a 68-60 victory over Greater Western Sydney in Canberra.

The Tigers dominated the territory battle against the Giants, generating 17 more inside 50s for the match, but breaking down Carlton's disciplined setup will be a significantly tougher assignment. The Blues have the physical toughness to match Richmond at the coalface and the outside speed to expose them on the rebound. The Blues should be able to dictate the tempo, win the vital clearances, and score heavily enough to cover the large handicap.

Carlton -23.5

$1.90 (2 Units)

Melbourne vs North Melbourne

Friday 7:15pm AEST, IKON Park, Melbourne

A blockbuster Friday night showdown awaits at IKON Park as an undefeated Melbourne unit faces a wounded North Melbourne. The Kangaroos arrive in unfamiliar territory, tasked with rebounding from their first defeat since the 2023 Grand Final. Their historic 32-game winning streak was shattered in a gruelling 32-25 upset loss to Hawthorn in tropical Cairns last week. Despite captain Jasmine Garner fighting valiantly for 29 disposals and six clearances, North Melbourne was suffocated by the Hawks' immense tackling heat and restricted to a single goal after half-time.

Conversely, Melbourne is operating flawlessly and enters this top-of-the-table fixture brimming with confidence. The Demons systematically dismantled Carlton 58-24 at Casey Fields in Round 6, showcasing their trademark polish and transition speed to maintain their perfect record. While the Kangaroos will undoubtedly produce a fierce response, giving an unbeaten Melbourne outfit a 14.5-point head start is simply too generous.

Melbourne +14.5

$1.90 (1 Unit)
