We're most certainly at the business end of the 2023 AFL home and away season with Round 19 now upon us. Unfortunately, there are no more Thursday night matches the rest of the way, which means it'll be Friday night's Essendon vs Western Bulldogs matchup that will get proceedings underway this weekend. Super Saturday is back in a big way with five matches set to play out over the course of the day, with the highlight being a top-of-the-ladder clash between Port Adelaide and Collingwood. Concluding the round will be a three-match slate on Sunday, all of which have the potential to be entertaining.

2023 AFL Round 19 Expert Tips
Friday July 21st
What a match we have on our hands to begin what will surely be another exciting round of footy. Essendon and the Western Bulldogs are both coming off disappointing losses and will be desperate to get back onto the winners list to hold their positions in the top eight, and they will do battle at Marvel Stadium on Friday night. Get the popcorn ready!
Saturday July 22nd
Hawthorn are coming off a rare win and will be hoping to ride the wave of momentum when they take on Richmond at the MCG. However, the Tigers have hit their straps in season 2023 and will be highly confident of banking another four points on Saturday afternoon.
Carlton are officially on fire! They took down a Port Adelaide team on a 13-game win streak last weekend and now have the easy kill against the Eagles in Round 19. The Blues will be making it five on the trot on Saturday, the only question is how much will they win by?
Brisbane lost from an almost unlosable position against Melbourne last weekend, but don’t have time to lick their wounds as they now face the reigning premiers who have never looked better in 2023. Can the Cats now take down the Lions at the fortress that is the Gabba?
Fremantle succumbed to Collingwood last weekend as expected. They’ve now lost three on the spin and face a Sydney side that looks to be on the improve after a solid win against the Bulldogs last weekend. Can the Dockers show some fight in front of their home fans?
Port Adelaide had their 13-game win streak snapped in poor fashion against Carlton last weekend, and bouncing back with a win certainly won’t be easy in Round 19 when they take on the ladder-leaders, Collingwood. This one is clearly the match of the round and should be a joy to watch for all footy fans.
Sunday July 23rd
GWS showed they aren’t a team to be underestimated as they secured a huge road win against a quality Adelaide side in Round 18. The Giants have now won five matches in a row and will fancy themselves at home against Gold Coast on Sunday. The Suns will certainly have their hands full in this one.
Melbourne pulled off the best comeback of the season last weekend when they kicked four late goals to overcome Brisbane by one point. Will the Demons have an emotional letdown after such a great win, or will they remain focused and take care of business against Adelaide?
St Kilda were the hottest team in the competition in the first four rounds but haven’t been able to recapture that same form since. Maybe a big win against a horrible North Melbourne outfit can help them build some momentum as they continue their pursuit of a finals berth.
