Geelong vs St Kilda Prediction & Betting Tips: AFL 2026 Round 19
Cats Searching for a Spark
Geelong returns to GMHBA Stadium this Thursday night looking to arrest a brutal slump, having dropped five of their last six matches. The low point came last Saturday at ENGIE Stadium, where the Cats coughed up a 39-point third-quarter lead against the Giants, conceding nine of the final ten goals to lose 86 to 73. That second-half collapse triggered a massive statement from the match committee, who swung the axe with seven changes at selection. Only two of those omissions were forced, with Jeremy Cameron and Tanner Bruhn sidelined through injury. Despite the heavy rotation and ugly recent form, a return to Kardinia Park offers massive comfort given their strong 6-1 record at the venue this year.
Saints Finding Form
St Kilda makes the trip down the highway on the back of consecutive wins, keeping their season alive with a gritty 14-point victory over Port Adelaide (87 to 73) following a 67-point thrashing of Essendon. Bradley Hill was elite last week with 39 disposals, while Callum Wilkie controlled the air with 34 touches and 13 intercept possessions. The Saints love to choke the speed out of contests with a high-possession, keepings-off style, currently leading the competition for uncontested possessions at 249.2 per game. Despite that recent consistency, a question mark remains over their ability to damage quality opposition. St Kilda has not beaten a single team currently inside the top 10 all season, going 0-8 in those fixtures.
Recent History
The recent head-to-head history between these two sides comes down entirely to venue. St Kilda has actually taken the points in three of their last five meetings against Geelong, but every single one of those victories came under the roof at Marvel Stadium. Travelling down the Princes Highway is a completely different story. The Saints haven't won a game at GMHBA Stadium since 1999, copping a brutal 13-game losing streak at the ground since then. The narrow boundaries at Kardinia Park make St Kilda's high-possession game incredibly difficult to execute, as teams get squeezed into the wings and forced into wide turnovers.
Who takes the Points?
Geelong covering the line is the play for this Thursday night clash. The Cats have only dropped one game on their home deck all year, and returning to GMHBA Stadium historically provides the structural advantage they need to stop a slide. St Kilda might have some winning momentum, but that 0-8 record against top-10 opposition proves they struggle heavily when stepping up in class. Moving from the fast track at Marvel to a cold night on a narrow ground heavily favours the home side. Factor in that 27-year venue hoodoo, and the Cats should be too good once again.

Geelong vs St Kilda Prop Bet
Continues to set the standard as the best goalkicking wingman in the game and is coming off a three-goal haul last week and two the week before that. There’s also talk that he could potentially spend more time forward this week with Jeremy Cameron out injured. On top of that, he’s kicked seven goals in four career matches against the Saints including four in two matches at GMHBA Stadium.
