With the AFL practice matches out of the way and the 2023 AFL season now less than two weeks away, AFL fantasy drafts around the country are about to go into full swing as friends and foes come together for one of AFL’s favourite pastimes.
AFL Fantasy has grown immensely in recent years with Supercoach bigger and better than ever, Draftstars running massive daily fantasy contests, and season-long fantasy and keeper leagues the hot topic of every work place.
We thought we’d give you a helping hand with your upcoming AFL Fantasy draft with our top 20 draft picks for 2023 season-long AFL fantasy. If you’re struggling to pick your Grundys from your Gawns, then this list will give you a helping start with your draft.
AFL Fantasy 2023 - Our Top 20 Draft Picks
#1 Josh Dunkley (FWD/MID) - the dual-position of Dunkley as a forward gives him the nod for the number one spot. An absolute fantasy beast and should thrive at Brisbane with a more midfield role.
#2 Sam Docherty (DEF) - it was an incredible comeback season last year for Doch so no one is sleeping on him this year. Looks set to spend more time in the midfield, especially early with Walsh out. Fantastic defender option.
#3 Rory Laird (MID) - the leading AFL fantasy player from last season and shows no signs of slowing down. Should run rampant for the Crows once again.
#4 Tim Taranto (FWD/MID) - again the DPP of Taranto gives him a boost in the pecking order. Has been in beast-mode so far for Richmond and will get plenty of ball as Richmond’s top mid. Will the fast-paced style of the Tigers suit fantasy scoring?
#5 Rowan Marshall (RCK) - now has the keys to the ruck at St.Kilda and should thrive in that role. With so many AFL teams looking to split/share ruck duties, Marshall looks a rock solid choice as sole ruckman.
#6 Andrew Brayshaw (MID) - it could be time for Brayshaw to go to the next level as one of the best players in the competition. Looks fit and ready to rack them up.
#7 Tim English (RCK) - leaning again towards the lack of depth in the ruck gives English a boost up the order. Keeps improving every year and is now able to realise his potential.
#8 Clayton Oliver (MID) - will lead the Dees in the middle once again and should rack up a ton of touches. No reason to think he won’t have another massive season.
#9 Jack Steele (MID) - the stand out Saints midfielder, Steele racks up the points as a tackling machine and looks primed to go well again in 2023.
#10 Stephen Coniglio (FWD/MID) - with GWS losing midfield talent, Coniglio will get plenty of time in the middle and as a DPP, he’s a fantastic option in your fantasy team as a forward.
