AFL Daily Fantasy Tips 2024: Round 4 Saturday

April 5th 2024, 9:07pm, By: Jesse Penfold

AFL Fantasy Tips

Gather Round for the 2024 AFL Premiership Season brings us a three game Super Saturday Slate as everyone is set to play in South Australia this weekend.  Things get underway with the obvious game stacking opportunity with Sydney playing against West Coast, who are looking more and more like early 90s Fitzroy with each passing week. Then in the twilight game we get a huge clash between two undefeated sides, Carlton and Fremantle, before closing out the day with the Western Bulldogs and Geelong vying to improve their position in the top eight.

Draftstars continue to offer massive prize pools with the Saturday main contest being worth $60,000 along with their usual variety of alternate contests:

  • AFL $60,000+ Saturday
  • AFL $5,000+ Saturday High Roller ($150 Entry)
  • AFL $3,000+ Saturday Mini ($2 Entry)

The AFL Star contest is back for 2024 and Draftstars are offering the biggest prize pool in Australian DFS history with a $1 million guaranteed final with $250,000 top prize! There are qualifiers and satellites running for every AFL match, while there will also be a sprinkling of qualifiers across other sports such as NRL and NBA.

Meanwhile the 1000 AFL Target contests are set to return to Draftstars for the first time since 2018. Enter the contest and hit the 1000-point barrier with your team to scoop the jackpot!

Weather

25 degrees and sunny. Going to be an absolute corker of a day with no risk of rain. Perfect conditions for fantasy football. Let’s get into it.

Where to Attack?

The Sydney game stack will be the most popular play on this slate and rightfully so. West Coast are clear favourites for the wooden spoon and are yet to win quarter through three games this season. They have been leaking an enormous amount of fantasy points across most lines as a result.

Over their last five games going back to last year they have given up over 11 points per game above average to key forwards and over 13 points per game above average to general forwards. With Sydney just under 10 goal favourites, expect this pile on for forwards against the Eagles to continue.  Inside midfielders have been surprisingly held against West Coast recently, but the wings, general defenders and rucks have been a huge positive.

If you are looking for something to supplement the Sydney stacks, backs against the Bulldogs have been a huge positive this season. Over the last five games they have conceded over 20 points above average to wing defence and 15 points above average to the designated kicker.

Game Script – Sydney forwards and outside midfielders, Geelong backs

VALUE PLAYS

Taylor Adams ($9.840) comes into the lineup for his first game and we can expect him to get some inside midfield role while also taking advantage of a weak opponent up forward. For someone playing this role for Sydney in a game against the worst team in the league, this sub $10k price point is far too low to let pass. He has 120 point ceiling and should easily return sufficient value for big tournaments, I expect Adams to be one of the highest owned players on this slate.

Logan McDonald ($9,880) will be Sydney’s number one target of their key forwards and as noted above this has been an area that the Eagles have notoriously struggled with over the past season and a bit (and going back even further). McDonald has showed upside already this season with a 96 point game against Collingwood and I expect him to have an absolute day out against the Eagles this week.

MID PRICED PLAYS

Elijah Hollands ($10,580) it would be impossible to pass up mentioning Hollands on this slate. While his price had jumped significantly since his Carlton debut, it was eye popping enough that he is still in play at the $10k mark. Without attending any centre bounces but rather floating around the wing and half forward flank he was able to rack up 107 fantasy points, bringing back memories of his debut for the Gold Coast and all the promise he showed at that point in time.

PREMIUM PLAYS

Brodie Grundy ($13,920) is flourishing in a solo ruck role again at the Swans. Averaging 91 points per game through four games he has posted 2 tonnes and is yet to have a real favourable matchup. This week he will lineup against the West Coast combination of Bailey Williams and Callum Jamieson who have been giving up the second highest amount of points to rucks over the last 10 games going back to 2023.

Brodie Grundy is paying $2.25 to score 100+ fantasy points and $8.50 to be the highest fantasy scorer in the match. Both of which look like value plays.

Max Holmes ($13,950) has settled nicely into his role across half back this season. He is seeing a large number of the kicks ins (Tom Stewart has that role if you are looking for that), however he is floating across the back line and quarterbacking them into attack. While he isn’t in defence he is getting limited opportunities as an inside midfielder. He has posted 91 points per game and as noted above, the Bulldogs are as good a matchup as you will find for this role in defence.
