The time honoured Adelaide Cup is upon us and a good program of races are on show for punters, racegoers and connections. Run over 3200m at Morphettville on Monday, the Group 2 race will be race 7 on the card and will commence at 4:45pm (AEDT). Highland Bling has drawn poorly in barrier 17 but is the current $4.50 favourite. The locals take on quite a few horses from Victoria, around half the field in fact and Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott prepare one after recent racing in New South Wales and Victoria.
Brendan Bunworth brings you his best bets and Quaddie selections from Monday's Morphettville meeting below!

Morphettville Racing Tips: Monday, March 9th 2026
Race 6: Thomas Farms Manihi Classic 1100m - 4pm (AEDT)
(10) Celerity drops 6.5kg for this race and Jamie Melham hops on. At Culfield last start (Good 4) she was very unlucky when running on well for 2nd when $1.75 fav. The extra 100m should suit here and barrier 3 is a good get. She will settle handy again and should get out down the straight and go very close.
(1) Prairie Flower hasn’t won in a long time but is a proven mare when racing over the 1100m. She has won 4 times and a lot of those races have been in much tongue company. The worry is the 58kg.
(8) Mic Drop has drawn barrier 1 and should settle behind the leader. Has won 3 from 4 starts over this distance and 5 from 7 races on Good tracks.
(10) Celerity WIN
$2.20 (3 units)
Race 7: Sportsbet Adelaide Cup Group 2 3200m - 4:45pm (AEDT)
(1) Berkeley Square has found new confidence since the Spring and hasn’t looked back for Dan O’Sullivan. He tried the 2500m at Flemington last start and it looked like he was done at the 500m before he found and won well over the concluding stages. That was on a Good 4 as well and Luke Nolen is staying on top. It's his first try over this journey but better late than never in trying while the six-year-old is full of confidence. Knows how to win having won 10 of 39 starts.
(8) Dictionary drops another kilogram after running 5th behind Berkeley Square last start. He is a lightweight chance as he is one of the fittest horses in the race and he didn’t have much luck last start. First try over the trip.
(4) Komachi likes this track having won on 4 occasions here. He has placed in 26 of 47 starts and the fit eight-year-old will go forward and settle in the top 4.
(2) Newfoundland has come over for Gai Waterhouse&Adrian Bott and will get support no doubt. Tim Clark knows him well having won 3 from 5 on top and he will send the seven-year-old forward. Has drawn barrier 15 which may make it tricky to get in.
(1) Berkeley Square WIN
$4.80 (2 units)
Race 9: Quayclean C S Hayes Memorial Cup 1600m - 6:05pm (AEDT)
(4) Miss Aria was scratched from Flemington on Saturday in preference for this race. She ran on well last start for 6th at Caulfield. WHen first up from a spell she was 4th at the same track after also running on well and with pace on in this race I think she runs over the top of them. Another Good track suits and the only real concern is barrier 1 as she will drift back from the draw and need luck.
(2) Arran Bay gets the blinkers on for the first time and returns to a track he has run well at previously. He was unlucky at Flemington last start when 7th behind Cafe Millenium.
(5) Verdad has placed 16 of 26 starts and should go forward from barrier 5. If they go slow up front he can salute at generous odds and he did have sneaky jumpout (6th) last week leading into this despite being fit, having raced 4 times in 5 weeks..
(4) Miss Aria WIN
$3.80 (3 units)
