Sydney FC vs Central Coast Mariners

Friday, November 6 | 7:40pm AEDT
Allianz Stadium, Sydney

Sydney FC return home looking to bounce back from their 1-0 defeat to Melbourne City in Round 3. The Sky Blues have struggled to find consistency in front of goal during the opening weeks, but this shapes as a good opportunity to get their season moving in the right direction.

Central Coast Mariners have proven difficult to beat without collecting the victories they need. Their 1-1 draw against Melbourne Victory last weekend followed earlier draws against Newcastle and other competitive performances, highlighting a side capable of frustrating opponents even when they are not controlling possession.

Sydney should enjoy the majority of possession at Allianz Stadium and have the attacking quality to create opportunities against the Mariners. However, their inability to convert chances consistently is a concern, particularly at a relatively short price. The visitors will look to remain compact and capitalise on counterattacking opportunities.

Sydney's home advantage and greater attacking depth make them the preferred selection, and we'll take them at the handicap to add some value to our price.

Sydney FC -1.0

$2.25 (1 unit)

Auckland FC vs Wellington Phoenix

Saturday, November 7 | 3:00pm AEDT
Go Media Stadium, Auckland

The New Zealand Derby promises to be one of the highlights of Round 4, with Auckland FC hosting a Wellington Phoenix side that has made a perfect start to the new campaign.

Wellington sit on top of the A-League ladder after winning their opening three matches, scoring seven goals and conceding just once. Their latest success was an impressive 3-0 victory over Newcastle, underlining the attacking threat that has made them the early competition leaders.

Auckland have also shown plenty of promise, opening their campaign with a convincing 3-1 victory over Melbourne City. However, they have not maintained that momentum consistently, and the Phoenix will arrive with confidence after their excellent start.

Despite Wellington's superior early form, Auckland's home advantage cannot be underestimated. The hosts have established a strong presence at Go Media Stadium and possess enough attacking quality to challenge a Phoenix defence that has rarely been tested during the opening weeks.

The $2.12 available for Auckland is an interesting price in what should be a fiercely contested derby. Wellington's unbeaten record makes this far from straightforward, but we are prepared to side with the home team in a match that could be decided by fine margins.

Auckland FC WIN

$2.12 (2 Units)

Melbourne City vs Western Sydney Wanderers

Saturday, November 7 | 7:40pm AEDT
AAMI Park, Melbourne

Melbourne City will be looking to build momentum following their important 1-0 victory over Sydney FC in Round 3. Awer Mabil scored the decisive goal as City recorded their first league win of the campaign, providing a timely confidence boost ahead of another difficult assignment.

Western Sydney Wanderers have enjoyed an encouraging start to the season and remain unbeaten after three matches. Their ability to remain competitive in tight contests has been a feature of their early performances, with the Wanderers sitting near the top of the ladder.

City will need to be patient against a Western Sydney side that has demonstrated defensive discipline and an ability to punish opponents in transition. The hosts should enjoy their share of possession, but they cannot afford to leave space behind their defence against a dangerous Wanderers attack.

The price for Melbourne City is appealing enough to consider backing the hosts, particularly after their improved performance against Sydney. Western Sydney's unbeaten record makes this a difficult contest to predict, but City have the quality to edge a closely fought encounter.

Melbourne City WIN

$2.25 (1 Unit)

Perth Glory vs Newcastle Jets

Saturday, November 7 | 9:45pm AEDT
HBF Park, Perth

Perth Glory produced one of the standout performances of Round 3 with a stunning 4-0 demolition of Adelaide United at HBF Park. After losing their opening two matches, the result was a much-needed confidence boost and demonstrated what Perth are capable of when their attack clicks into gear.

Newcastle Jets, meanwhile, suffered a disappointing 3-0 home defeat to Wellington Phoenix last weekend. The Jets have collected just two points from their opening three matches and will be eager to respond, although another difficult away assignment awaits them in Western Australia.

Perth's performance against Adelaide was particularly encouraging because of the manner in which they created opportunities and punished defensive mistakes. Reproducing that attacking intensity will be the challenge, but Newcastle have shown enough defensive vulnerability to suggest the Glory can enjoy further success in front of goal.

The Jets have the quality to respond and should not be dismissed, particularly given Perth's own inconsistency. However, home advantage, the long trip west for Newcastle and Perth's improved confidence make the Glory an interesting betting proposition.

Perth offer considerably more upside than the short-priced goals markets. There is risk attached to backing a side with only one victory this season, so a smaller stake is appropriate.

Perth Glory WIN

$2.60 (1 Unit)

Macarthur FC vs Brisbane Roar

Sunday, November 8 | 3:00pm AEDT
Campbelltown Sports Stadium, Sydney

Macarthur FC welcome Brisbane Roar to Campbelltown in an intriguing matchup between two sides that have made encouraging starts to the campaign.

Macarthur remain unbeaten after their opening three matches, collecting five points and showing an ability to grind out results. Their latest outing produced another draw against Western Sydney Wanderers, continuing a steady start that has kept the Bulls among the early leading group.

Brisbane have also shown signs of improvement, with their 2-1 victory over Perth Glory in Round 2 providing an early highlight. The Roar followed that performance with a draw against Auckland FC and will be looking to maintain their competitive form away from home.

There is little separating these sides on early-season performances, and both have demonstrated enough attacking ability to cause problems. Macarthur should be positive in front of their home supporters, while Brisbane will look to exploit space when the Bulls push forward.

Rather than trying to separate two evenly matched teams, the both-teams-to-score market looks the better option. At $1.57, the price is reasonable provided both sides approach the contest with attacking intent.

Both Teams to Score – Yes

$1.57 (2 Units)

Adelaide United vs Melbourne Victory

Sunday, November 8 | 5:00pm AEDT
Coopers Stadium, Adelaide

Round 4 concludes with one of Australian football's fiercest rivalries as Adelaide United host Melbourne Victory at Coopers Stadium. Both clubs will be desperate to turn their seasons around after disappointing starts to the 2026/27 campaign.

Adelaide are still searching for their first points of the season and enter the contest following a humiliating 4-0 defeat against Perth Glory. The Reds have struggled defensively and will need a significant improvement if they are to overcome their traditional rivals.

Melbourne Victory have also endured a frustrating opening three rounds, collecting just two points. Their latest result was a 1-1 draw against Central Coast Mariners, another missed opportunity for a team expected to challenge near the top of the ladder.

Despite their respective struggles, both teams possess the attacking quality to make this an entertaining contest. Adelaide should benefit from returning to Coopers Stadium, where the atmosphere is likely to be intense, while Victory will see an opportunity to exploit the defensive problems that have plagued the Reds.

Picking a winner is difficult given the form of both sides, but there is a reasonable case for goals at both ends. Adelaide will be desperate to attack in front of their supporters, and Victory should find opportunities against a vulnerable defence.
