April 8th 2022, 11:00pm, By: Andy Rosos

Swans vs Kangaroos Betting Tips

The four game Saturday slate in Round 4 of the AFL gets underway at 2.40pm as Sydney host North Melbourne at the SCG from 2.40pm! Andy Rosos is back on deck to preview the game in full and give his best bets below.

Sydney vs North Melbourne Betting Tips

SCG, Saturday 9th April, 2.40pm (AEST)

Sydney

In: Justin McInerny, Peter Ladhams, Sam Reid
Out: Ben Ronke, Dlayn Stephens, Joel Amartey, Tom Hickey

The Swans will debut recruit Peter Ladhams this week after the ruckman made the move from Port Adelaide in the off-season. He comes into the side on the back of an injured Tom Hickey, while Justin McInerny and Sam Reid are in to boost depth.

The Swans suffered their first loss of the season in Round 3 as they travelled to Melbourne to take on the Western Bulldogs. The Swans weren't terrible in the game, the game was more a sign of how desperate the Dogs were to get their first win.

It became evident on Thursday night just how important Isaac Heeney is to the Swans setup. He had a quiet game with just 18 touches and one goal and it looked as though Sydney really lacked another avenue forward outside of Lance Franklin. They will no doubt be keen to get Sam Reid back in the line-up to bolster the forward line.

North Melbourne

In: Atu Bosenavulagi, Flynn Perez, Luke Davies-Uniacke
Out: Aiden Bonar, Eddie Ford, Jared Polec, Tom Powell

The Roos lose a few through injury in Jared Polec and Tom Powell but talented youngster Luke Davies-Uniacke comes back into the side in what is an important inclusion.

The Roos finished the 2021 season with some really impressive performances that would have inspired confidence in their supporters. Through three rounds in 2022 though, they have been pretty mediocre. They went down by a massive 108 points to the Brisbane Lions in Round 3 and their only win of the season so far came against an extremely undermanned West Coast side.

The road doesn't get any easier for the Roos, as they face strong opponents in the Western Bulldogs, Geelong and Carlton in their following three games.

Match Prediction

The Swans will certainly win this one, the question is, by how much? They have been solid at the SCG in recent history, winning eight of their last 10 games. The Kangaroos on the other hand, have won just three of their last 10 games at the SCG, dating back to the turn of the millenium.

The line is currently at around 38.5 at most outlets, which I don't really fancy either way. Instead I'll be taking the unders on North Melbourne's total score. The Roos have struggled to score this season, putting up just 60.0 points per game through three rounds. They now face a tough defence in the Swans on a ground that has proved tough to score on in recent history.

North Melbourne Under 56.5 Points

Prop Bets

With Sam Reid back in the line-up I expect the Swans not to have to rely as heavily on Isaac Heeney playing up forward. The young star should spend a little more time in the midfield on Saturday. Had 25 in Round 1 against the Giants PlayUp has massive overs on him at $3.30.

Isaac Heeney 25+ Disposals ($3.30 at PlayUp)

Sam Reid has been named in the forward line and the Swans added another ruckman in Ladhams into the line-up. BetRight is offering big odds for Reid to kick the most goals in the game in his first game for the season.

Sam Reid Most Goals ($12.00 at BetRight)

Group A at Ladbrokes for disposals has Aaron Hall, Callum Mills, Jake Lloyd, Jy Simpkin, Luke Parker, Luke Davies-Uniacke, Chad Warner and Jack Ziebell. Really like the odds of Jake Lloyd here. Has had 27 and 29 touches in his two games this season.

Jake Llyod Most Disposals Group A ($3.75 at Ladbrokes)
