Port Adelaide vs Richmond Betting Tips

Adelaide Oval, Saturday 6th August, 7:40pm (AEST)

Port Adelaide

Injuries: Travis Boak, Darcy Byrne-Jones, Dan Houston (Test), Scott Lycett (TBC), Jake Pasini (Season)

Port Adelaide had a ton of injuries early in the season but only have a few of note right now. Travis Boak, Darcy Byrne-Jones and Dan Houston will all be assessed ahead of selection on Thursday night, while Scott Lycett will likely continue to miss for the rest of the season.

Port Adelaide knew their season was all but over heading into last weekend’s fixture against the Magpies, but they still put forward a decent account of themselves in a six-point loss. Jase Burgoyne has been a shining light for the side over the past month or so and looks a good prospect for the future. Regardless, it’s been an incredibly disappointing season for a Power outfit that had their sights set on a premiership.

Richmond

Injuries: Samson Ryan (Test), Dylan Grimes, Dustin Martin (Out)

Richmond has only three players on their injury list at the moment, which is the fewest in the competition heading into Round 23. However, two of them are extremely important pieces in Dylan Grimes and Dustin Martin, both of whom are likely to miss at least the end of the home and away season.

The Tigers looked down and out when they trailed by seven goals during the third quarter of their clash with the Lions last weekend but managed to find some of their best form in the last half to record an amazing comeback win. First-year man Noah Cumberland was sensational again with five goals and looks like a hand-in-glove replacement for Jack Riewoldt when his time is up. The Tigers are now ninth on the ladder and are only two points outside the top eight.

Match Prediction

The Power are certainly capable of winning this matchup, but the fact they now have nothing to play for this season will make it hard to generate a high level of motivation. On the other hand, the Tigers have everything to play for and a win in this match would be massive for their chance of securing a finals berth. If the Tigers can bring something close to the pressure they applied in the second half of last weekend’s match against the Lions, then they should have no problems coming away with a win against the underwhelming Power.

Prop Bets

Kicking a big score against quality opposition has been a struggle all season for the Power and it’s a key reason as to why they’re out of finals contention. It’s hard to see that changing in Round 21, which makes their unders in this fixture a very good bet.

Port Adelaide Under 78.5 Points ($1.87 at Ladbrokes)

Tom Lynch’s fantastic form in the second half of the season has helped keep the Tigers finals hopes alive. He’s kicked 3+ goals in six of his last nine matches and gets a good look at a Power defence that isn’t blessed with quality key defenders. I like him to kick a bag here.

Tom Lynch 3+ goals ($2.10 at Ladbrokes)

Noah Cumberland has been a revelation for the Tigers since coming into the side in Round 17. He’s kicked 11 goals in four matches including five last start against the Lions. He remains fantastic value for multiple goals again on Saturday night.

Noah Cumberland 2+ goals ($2.20 at Ladbrokes)
