It’s been a while since we’ve seen the classic Perth 8.15pm time-slot and although the matchup isn’t the most glamorous we could have dreamed up, it’s good to have footy being played later into a Saturday night!
Match Prediction
I’m going to keep this one pretty short and sweet here. There’s really not much to analyse when we are looking at the North Melbourne Kangaroos. They have had a horror season to date but that was expected given some of the moves they made in the off-season and their statements about being in a full rebuild. They have lost all five of their games by an average margin of 62 points and even in the last two weeks when they looked a lot more competitive, they still went down by 41 points to the Crows and 30 points to the Cats.
Fremantle will certainly win this game under the sanctuary of Optus Stadium, the only question is, can they cover the 37.5 point spread. The bookies have definitely turned the corner when setting lines for the Roos. Just a few weeks ago when they faced the Crows, the line opened at just 15.5 points. They looked like covering that line until late in the fourth quarter when the Crows piled on four unanswered goals.
Considering the Crows and Dockers are probably around a similar skill level this season, the difference between the 15.5 point line and the 37.5 point line this week is massive. Both of these teams have struggled to score this season, ranking 11th and 18th in points per game in the competition. Really like this one to go under 161.5 points at Perth Stadium, which is the lowest scoring ground still in use in the AFL. If it goes under, you’d think that the Roos can cover the line, especially with a few extra points on each spread.

Andrew Brayshaw has looked like one of the premier midfielders in the comp through the opening five rounds. He has certainly taken the next step in his development and is racking up some big numbers. He is averaging 25.6 possessions per game and already has three games where he has racked up 29+ touches. Back him to have 30+ again on Saturday night.
