AFL GWS vs Port Adelaide Betting Tips
Marvel Stadium, Sunday 1st August, 6.10pm (AEST)
Who would have thought that a match between GWS and Port Adelaide on a Sunday afternoon from Marvel would have been the game of the round? That’s what we are faced with though, as this clash represents the only game in Round 20 to pit two top eight teams against each other.
Match Preview
The Giants found themselves just inside the top eight at the start of the round but depending on what happens in games involving the Saints and Bombers, they could well find themselves on the outside looking in come Sunday. The important thing for the Giants is that their destiny is in their own hands. If they continue to win, they’ll continue to find themselves in the top eight at the end of every round.
They were super impressive against the Bombers last week, winning by 13 points in a thrilling game to snap a two-game losing streak. It’s been an extremely up and down season for the Giants, but signs are looking much better on their injury list at the moment and it looks like they will have all of their star midfielders and Toby Greene available for the first time this season on Sunday.
The Power racked up another win on the weekend to hold onto a spot in the top four by one game over the trailing Lions and Swans. It was a really impressive performance over the Pies, winning by 28 points and never really losing control of the game.
The return of the star young trio in Connor Rozee, Zak Butters and Xavier Duursma transformed the Power into a much better side and the inclusion of Orazio Fantasia this week adds even more depth. They now are waiting only on the recovery of Robbie Gray and Steven Motlop before they are at full strength.
Really like the look of the Giants line here. They start as 12.5-point underdogs and they have so much to play for. They have won five of their last six games against the Power, with that one loss coming by just 17 points. I think they keep this one close or potentially win.

Toby Greene will play his first game since the loss to the Suns by one point back in Round 17. In his last four games, the star forward has kicked bags of 4, 2, 3, 3 and is one of the better players at calculating the flight of the ball and kicking for goal in strong winds.
Josh Kelly has had a few down weeks but I expect him to bounce back this week. He has racked up 25+ touches in 10 of his last 12 games and had 30 in his last game against the Power in full length quarters.
Dan Houston went through a little dry patch earlier in the season but has since bounced back, averaging 19.5 touches over his last two games. He has passed 15 touches in 14/17 games this season.
