2021 AFL Round 20 Gold Coast vs Melbourne Tips
Marvel Stadium, Sunday 1st August, 12:10pm (AEST)
We have another match on our hands between teams on opposite ends of the ladder and in completely different stages of their list development. Regardless, the Suns will be looking to cause an upset at home against the Demons, with the latter starting at around four-and-a-half goal favourites on Sunday afternoon.
Match Prediction
Gold Coast got off to a flying start against their state rivals in the Lions last weekend to lead them by 27 points at the main break; however, they completely and utterly fell away after half time to get outscored 11-87 and eventually lose by 49 points. It was a really disappointing turn of events for the Suns who had been playing very competitive football for the four weeks leading in.
Melbourne were unable to complete the season double over the Western Bulldogs last weekend, with the Bulldogs proving too strong when handing the Demons a wire-to-wire loss. That loss certainly wasn’t the way they were looking to respond after drawing with the lowly Hawks in the week prior. As a result, they now find themselves in third spot on the ladder and in risk of dropping out of the top four.
The Suns injury list continues to grow and is now one of the longest in the competition. Key players on the sidelines this weekend include Brandon Ellis, Oleg Markov, Rory Thompson and Jarrod Witts. In contrast, the Demons barely have any injuries to key players at all to speak of, with Adam Tomlinson the only definite starter missing for this fixture.
Like a few games on this weekend, we have a very lobsided fixture expected to play out here with the Demons priced at around $1.17 to get the chocolates. If the Suns play like they did in the three matches before their last outing, then they would be a chance to push the Demons in this contest, but taking into consideration how they played in the second half against the Lions and with injuries continuing to pile up, we fancy the Demons to secure a very comfortable win on Sunday afternoon.

Same Game Multi
We’re back with our Same Game Multi’s for all matches in Round 20 including the Bulldogs vs Suns clash. For the first of our three-leg multi we’ll be taking Angus Brayshaw for 15+ disposals. Brayshaw has been in good form of late with seven straight games of 15+ disposals and should be able to extend that streak comfortably. For the second leg we’ll be on the skilful Christian Salem to have at least 25 disposals, which he had done in five straight games before having his streak broken against the Bulldogs last weekend in a tough outing for all Demons players, so expect a bounce back game from him. For the final leg we’ll be taking Suns goal sneak Alex Sexton to kick a goal at any time. He’s one of the most selfish goalkickers in the league, which is fantastic for our multi and he’s also jagged at least one goal in each of his last six outings.
