AFL Fremantle vs GWS Betting Tips

Optus Stadium, Sunday 6.10pm (AEDT)

Fremantle will get their first opportunity to play in front of home fans on Sunday evening and the'll need all the support they can get after they were handled comfortably in Round 1 by the Demons. The Giants were a little more competitve in Round 1, but ultimately went down to the Saints and will also be seeking their first win of the season.

Match Prediction

The Demons blew out to an early lead in Rond 1 against the Dockers and never really looked back. The Dockers struggled to hit the scoreboard, putting up just 58 points in the loss with Matt Taberner being their only multiple goal kicker. Andrew Brayshaw was the Dockers best, racking up 29 touches and a goal while Nat Fyfe had 27 touches of his own.

The Giants looked in control of the game at times against the Saints in woeful conditions in Sydney. After holding a lead in the last quarter, they allowed a few late goals to St Kilda to squander the lead and lose by eight points. Harry Himmelberg picked up the goalscoring slack left in the wake of Jeremy Cameron, booting three goals while Jacob Hopper was the Giants best with 27 touches and a goal.

On the injury front, the Giants are looking pretty good at the moment. Brent Daniels has recovered from a hamstring injury and is a chance to come straight back into the line-up this week. The only players missing from their potential best 22 are Lachie Whitfield, Adam Kennedy, Jesse Hogan and Jake Riccardi.

It's not as bright on the injury front at the Dockers. They currently have 15 players on their injury list including key best 22 players in the likes of Rory Lobb, Stephen Hill, Michael Walters, Joel Hamling and Alex Pearce, who suffered a tough knee injury last week in his first game back in over a year.

The bookies have this one dead even and I'm finding it pretty hard to split the two teams as well. One thing I do like here though is the under. The Giants and Dockers ranked 11th and 16th in the league for goals scored respectively and when they sqaured off last season, they combined for just 144 points. Back the under here.

Dockers Prop

Caleb Serong was impressive in the first game of the season last week, racking up 26 touches and he also capped off last season brilliantly with 25 touches in his last game with shortened quarters. Is taking on a much bigger role in his second season in Fremantle. Back him to pass the 25 disposal mark again.

Giants Prop

One thing that really caught my eye in Round 1 when the Giants played the Saints is the amount of time that Tim Taranto spent in the forward line. He kicked 1.2 and was pretty active in the forward line for a large portion of the night. $5.50 for the midfielder/forward to kick 2+ goals is great value if he spends anywhere near that amount of time forward again.
