NBL Round 19 Betting Tips
Tasmania JackJumpers vs Cairns Taipans
Friday 7:30pm AEDT
The first of three Round 19 fixtures I’m looking to make a play on features the JackJumpers vs Taipans on Friday night. The JackJumpers enter this clash on the back of a tough 20-point loss against the red-hot Kings. That loss ended a three-game winning streak, with the highlight during that run being their 85-83 road win against the Wildcats in Round 17. The JackJumpers are now 13-11 on the season and remain a punchers chance of making the playoffs.
The Taipans haven’t had the season they were after, but they haven’t given up and enter this fixture on a mini two-game win streak. They were too good for the Phoenix last time out, with Scott Machado orchestrating the offence beautifully with 16 points and 11 assists. The Snakes are now up to eight wins on the season, but have unfortunately already suffered 14 defeats.
Both teams will be happy with the form they’ve shown over the last couple of weeks, but it’s the JackJumpers who have been the more consistent team by a long way this season. They’ve certainly surprised me in their inaugural campaign and will be desperate to tick over the win column again on Friday night to keep their playoffs hopes alive. I expect them to do just that and cover the small spread in the process.

Adelaide 36ers vs Sydney Kings
Saturday 8pm AEDT, Adelaide Entertainment Centre
Coming off yet another heartbreaking defeat, the 36ers will be aiming to snap a two-game losing streak on Saturday night. They coughed up a handy lead to lose to the Bullets by one-point last outing and have now suffered defeat in eight of their last 10 games. It’s fair to say this season has been a wasted one for such a strong NBL franchise.
The Kings have been in scorching hot form for a number of weeks now and enter this clash on a 10-game win streak. Most recently they made very light work of another in-form team in the JackJumpers, defeating them by 20 points for their second straight 20+ point win. This current streak has taken the Kings up to second spot in the standings and just two wins behind United with two games in hand.
This will be just the second meeting between these teams this season and it’s no surprise that the Kings were the winners of their first clash. They got the job done on the road by three points in late February and with how both teams are trending at the moment, I expect the Kings winning margin to be a much greater one this time around.
Cairns Taipans vs Melbourne United
Sunday 3pm AEDT, Cairns Convention Centre
The Taipans battled hard but couldn’t go with the JackJumpers in their most recent game, eventually losing by seven points. That loss snapped a rare three-game win streak for the Snakes, which was their first such streak of the season. Their recent turn in form has coincided with point guard Scott Machado getting back to his best, but unfortunately, it’s come all too late for the 8-15 Snakes.
After losing a couple of games in a row at home against the Hawks, United bounced back beautifully with a strong win against the Wildcats on the road and followed that up with a spectacular comeback win against the Phoenix. United have been by far the most consistent team all season long and that’s why they’re currently two wins clear at the top of the standings.
United have had the wood over the Taipans for some time now and beat them by 16 points in their only meeting this season. However, the Snakes have improved in recent weeks and are capable of keeping this one close. In my opinion, the value lies in the ‘unders’ in the total points market, which has saluted comfortably in two of their last three meetings. Both team have been really solid defensively in recent times and I don’t see that changing here.
