2020 NFL Draft Preview & Betting Tips

April 23rd 2020, 5:49pm, By: Ben Heisler

With the NFL Draft set to kick off the first of any sort of live sporting event we’ve had in the States for more than a month, we get to enjoy three full action-packed days of football draft coverage and analysis!

Then again, hearing Commissioner Roger Goodell read names from his basement on Zoom may not be what most may find to be exhilarating live betting action, but the fact remains that the NFL Draft in 2020 has become a mecca for the sports better, anxiously awaiting each pick in hopes of a faster payout than from the U.S Federal Government.

So with that in mind, here are a few of my favorite plays, props and fades for this year’s NFL Draft: VIRTUAL EDITION.

2020 NFL Draft Betting Tips

Player Draft Positions

Chaisson is the second best edge rusher in the draft behind the top graded player in Chase Young. Even with teams needing desperate offensive line help and upgrades at wide receiver, I have a hard time envisioning a scenario in which the next tier level pass rush falls all the way past Atlanta at number 16.

K’Lavon Chaisson Under 16.5

$2.50

This one is fairly surprising based on the latest odds drop, but I just don’t see another team swooping in at number three that will satisfy the Lions. And even if they do, it’s also very likely they take Okudah as the top defensive back in the draft regardless! The Giants even at four could still consider Okudah, especially if they get sniped at tackle by Detroit or a possible trading team at three. There’s too much value here for someone who by every measure and nearly every mock draft have the Lions as the perfect landing spot for him.

Jeffrey Okudah Under 4.5

$2.00

In the interest of full transparency, I did bet Henry Ruggs to be drafted ahead of Jeudy, but that was purely based in value with Ruggs receiving nearly 2/1 odds and seeming like natural fits in both the New York Jets and San Francisco 49ers offenses at 11 and 13. However, with rumors floating around regarding the health of his knee, the public is likely to be all over the OVER 12.5. I could see Jeudy being a natural fit with Jacksonville at 9, Cleveland at 10 (if they want to consider moving Odell Beckham Jr.) and the Jets at 11. Plus, don’t forget about the trade market where teams could move up to try and block one of these pre-teen teams if Jeudy is the top wideout on their draft board.

Jerry Jeudy Over 12.5

$2.19

Draft Props

We can guarantee at least four Alabama players to go likely in the first half of the first round. Jedrick Wills is the prohibitive favorite to be the first offensive tackle off the board, Tua Tagovailoa will likely be the #2 quarterback selected, and then they also are representing two of the top three receivers in the draft with Jerry Jeudy and Henry Ruggs. But after that it gets a bit dicey. Xavier McKinney may be a slight upgrade at safety ahead of Antoine Winfield Jr, but it’s awfully close. Xavier Diggs is a top 3/top 4 corner, but after Okudah and Henderson, there are several names that are fairly interchangeable. Because of the depth at wide receiver, I expect there to be a run on other positions early and Diggs’ comp to Aqib Talib from NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein could have GM’s anxious to snag Stefon Diggs’ younger brother before it’s too late.

Over 5.5 Alabama Players 1st Round

$2.05

Burrow and Young are near locks to go top two overall. But the third pick is starting to stir the pot. If the Lions aren’t able to trade the #3 overall pick, Okudah makes too much sense for them with a glaring need at their top cornerback spot after the trade of Darius Slay to Philadelphia. However, if they trade the pick, it’s likely going to go to a team looking to snipe the Miami Dolphins of a Quarterback, most likely Tua Tagovailoa. I think you can go both ways with this bet, knowing you have a very solid winner with the Okudah hedge if the pick doesn’t get moved by Detroit.

First Three in EXACT Order

Burrow, Young, Tagovailoa

$3.75
