2020 AFL Brownlow Medal Votes Round 15

September 5th 2020, 3:01pm, By: Brownlow Bandit

Brownlow Votes AFL Round 15

A quick-fire Round 15 with only six matches played out midweek, and there wasn't a lot of movement in our Brownlow leaderboard with only five votes allocated to the Top 20, so this is probably a good round for a bathroom break on Brownlow night! Let's take a closer look at the matches from the weekend with our Round 15 Brownlow vote predictions.

Our Brownlow Medal predictions and rolling Brownlow Medal tracker allow you to keep an eye on the Brownlow betting markets throughout the season, so that you can build a green book so that by the time the 2020 Brownlow Medal night rolls around we’re assured of a profit!

You’ll be able to stay up to date with our live 2020 Brownlow Medal leaderboard, while there will be links to round-by-round voting posted there.

For those who need a refresher on how our Brownlow vote predictor system works, we assign 6 votes per game so that our total votes are the same as the official 3-2-1 system, however we break up those votes as we see fit across potentially more than three players. Some games are really tough to call which way the votes will go, so a better predictive model is to split performances and assign half points to each player where there is doubt. So for example if two players dominate and it's too hard to split their performance, they are given 2.5 votes each, with the remaining 1 vote given to another player(s). This will give us a predictive total closer to their true total, rather than guessing. We can then form a 'range' for each player (i.e. a min and max we think players can poll) with the thinking behind this that the variations from the half votes will even out over the long term.

Round 15 Brownlow Medal Votes

It was looking like a miserable Brownlow count for Adelaide, but Round 15 will bring some excitement with some rare votes after a their first win of the season. Otherwise, there's not a lot to report from our Brownlow leaders in Round 15. Check out who we have in the votes with our Round 15 Brownlow predictions for every match below.

Hawthorn 7.6.48 def by Adelaide 12.11.83

The Crows have done it! Their first win of the season! Some extra grunt in the middle with Matt Crouch (32 disposals, 5 tackles, 5 clearances), Brad Crouch (27 disposals, 8 clearances) and Ben Keays (22 disposals, 1 goal) was the difference, and they were well fed by ruckman Reilly O’Brien (19 disposals, 8 marks, 26 hitouts). Jack Scrimshaw was the best for the Hawks with 22 disposals and 6 marks.

Matt Crouch – 3
Brad Crouch – 2
Reilly O’Brien – 0.5
Jack Scrimshaw – 0.5

West Coast 9.6.60 def Essendon 6.9.45

With spearhead Josh Kennedy sidelined, Liam Ryan stepped up to fill the hole with 4 goals from 14 disposals and 8 marks to be the difference between the two sides. Andrew Gaff (23 disposals, 8 marks), Brad Sheppard (20 disposals, 9 marks) and Shannon Hurn (20 disposals, 12 marks) were also valuable. The big ball winners were with the Dons with Zach Merrett (33 disposals, 5 marks), Dylan Shiel (32 disposals, 5 clearances), Jordan Ridley (25 disposals, 13 marks) and Kyle Langford (29 disposals, 8 marks, 5 clearances) all a chance for votes. A tricky Brownlow game.

Liam Ryan – 3
Andrew Gaff – 1
Zach Merrett – 1
Kyle Langford - 1

Richmond 8.8.56 def Fremantle 4.5.29

Richmond did enough to get the win in another difficult game for Brownlow voting. Jayden Short (23 disposals, 8 marks), Jack Graham (18 disposals, 1 goal) and Nick Vlastuin (17 disposals, 8 marks) were best for the Tigers but hardly set the world on fire. Best on ground was arguably Blake Acres who picked up 27 disposals, 6 marks and 5 tackles, while young gun Caleb Serong (22 disposals, 6 marks, 5 tackles, 5 clearances) was also good in the middle. Nat Fyfe (23 disposals, 5 marks, 9 tackles) was also influential in a losing effort.

Blake Acres – 3
Jayden Short – 2
Caleb Serong – 0.5
Nat Fyfe – 0.5

Sydney 10.7.67 def Melbourne 6.10.46

Sydney showed they are a team of the future with their young guns upsetting the finals chances of Melbourne. Luke Parker (24 disposals, 5 tackles, 6 clearances, 2 goals) and Josh Kennedy (24 disposals, 5 tackles, 5 clearances) were at their best in the middle, with Ryan Clarke (22 disposals, 5 marks, 5 tackles) and Justin McInerney (14 disposals, 5 marks, 2 goals) providing good support. Ed Langdon was best for the Dees with 26 disposals and 9 marks.

Luke Parker – 3
Ed Langdon – 2
Josh Kennedy – 0.5
Ryan Clarke – 0.5

GWS Giants 6.12.48 def Carlton 5.9.39

After trailing by 15 points at three-quarter time, the Giants kicked the last four goals to snatch a narrow victory and end the dreams of the Blues for the 2020 season. Nick Haynes (21 disposals, 8 marks) was the thorn in the Blues side as he repelled many attacks, while Toby Greene (19 disposals, 7 marks, 1 goal) was busy across half-forward. Sam Walsh (23 disposals, 6 marks, 1 goal) was best for the Blues in a pretty clear-cut top three.

Nick Haynes -3
Sam Walsh – 1.5
Toby Greene – 1.5

Brisbane 6.6.42 def Collingwood 5.4.34

The final game of the abbreviated round saw Brisbane do enough to secure the points in a hard-fought win over the Pies. Jarryd Lyons (27 disposals, 7 clearances, 1 goal) and Jarrod Berry (24 disposals, 5 marks, 1 goal) were best for the Lions, while Oscar McInerny (15 disposals, 5 tackles, 19 hitouts, 9 clearances) clearly had the better of the ruck duel. Scott Pendlebury (29 disposals, 6 tackles, 8 clearances) is probably in the votes, while Jack Crisp (30 disposals, 8 marks, 6 tackles) was also busy.

Jarryd Lyons – 2.5
Jarrod Berry – 2.5
Scott Pendlebury - 1
