For those who need a refresher on how our Brownlow voting system works, we assign 6 votes per game so that our total votes are the same as the official 3-2-1 system, however we break up those votes as we see fit across potentially more than three players. Some games are really tough to call which way the votes will go, so a better predictive model is to split performances and assign half points to each player where there is doubt. So for example if two players dominate and it's too hard to split their performance, they are given 2.5 votes each, with the remaining 1 vote given to another player(s). This will give us a predictive total closer to their true total, rather than guessing. We can then form a 'range' for each player (i.e. a min and max we think players can poll) with the thinking behind this that the variations from the half votes will even out over the long term.

It was boom recruit Tom Lynch who was the difference with 5 goals from 16 disposals and 6 marks, and he was well fed by Dusty Martin (38 disposals, 2 goals) and Dion Prestia (35 disposals). For the Pies Adam Treloar (39 disposals, 1 goal) was typically prolific and Jordan De Goey (28 disposals, 10 marks, 1 goal) was lively.

A huge win for the Lions against the Hawks at the Launceston fortress with a lot of even contributions across the team. Lachie Neale (33 disposals, 1 goal) has firmed in the Brownlow betting and is likely to be in the votes, along with Dayne Zorko (25 disposals, 6 tackles, 2 goals). Mitch Robinson (28 disposals) and Jarryd Lyons (25 disposals) were also good contributors. James Worpel was the stand out for the Hawks with 34 disposals.

The Blues continue to surge under David Teague with a big win on the G against finals contender Adelaide. Patrick Cripps was immense with 39 disposals, including 24 contested and 19 clearances, 7 tackles and a goal and most definitely 3 Brownlow votes. Kade Simpson (31 disposals, 12 marks, 1 goal) was back to his old best, while Marc Murphy (31 disposals, 8 marks), Ed Curnow (30 disposals) and even Levi Casboult (15 disposals, 10 marks 3 goals) were influential. As for the Crows, well, the less said, the better.

The Eagles demolished the Roos with Josh Kennedy back to his best with 7 goals from 11 disposals and 8 marks in his best game for the year. Jack Darling (21 disposals, 7 marks, 5 tackles, 2 goals) was another strong focal point with the midfield of Andrew Gaff (33 disposals), Dom Sheed (31 disposals, 7 marks) and Elliot Yeo (26 disposals, 7 tackles, 1 goal) sharing the workload.

The Saints march on under caretaker coach Brett Ratten with Seb Ross standing tall with 31 disposals, 7 marks, 9 tackles and 2 goals. Max Gawn was as big as ever with 40 hitouts, 18 disposals, 8 marks and 5 tackles in the losing effort.

A dramatic one-point win for the Giants has put pressure on the Power to see September action. Toby Greene (30 disposals, 8 marks, 6 tackles), Tim Taranto (31 disposals, 5 tackles) and Jacob Hopper (31 disposals, 7 marks) were keys in the midfield, while Phil Davis (17 disposals, 13 marks) was a rock in defence. For the Power, Travis Boak led the ball winners with 40 disposals and should figure in the votes.

The Bulldogs were too good for the Dockers to keep their finals hopes alive in 2019. The Suns led deep into this match but the Bombers kicked the last two goals in the dying minutes to pinch the win and avoid embarrassment. It might be a tricky game for votes with Shaun McKernan (4 goals, 15 disposals, 8 marks) and Jake Stringer (4 goals, 15 disposals) both hitting the scoreboard without dominating the game.
