2019 AFL Brownlow Medal Vote Predictions Round 1

March 25th 2019, 2:15pm, By: Brownlow Bandit

The most comprehensive AFL Brownlow Medal coverage returns for 2019 as the “Brownlow Bandit” brings you game-by-game analysis every round of the season to help you with your betting on the 2019 Brownlow Medal.

Our Brownlow Medal predictions and rolling Brownlow Medal tracker allow you to keep an eye on the betting markets throughout the season to build a green book so that by the time the 2019 Brownlow Medal night rolls around we’re assured of a profit.

You’ll be able to stay up to date with our live 2019 Brownlow Medal leaderboard, while there will be links to every single round-by-round voting posted there.

For those who need a refresher on how our Brownlow voting system works, we assign 6 votes per game so that our total votes are the same as the official 3-2-1 system, however we break up those votes as we see fit across potentially more than three players. Some games are really tough to call which way the votes will go, so a better predictive model is to split performances and assign half points to each player where there is doubt. So for example if two players dominate and it's too hard to split their performance, they are given 2.5 votes each, with the remaining 1 vote given to another player(s). This will give us a predictive total closer to their true total, rather than guessing. We can then form a 'range' for each player (i.e. a min and max we think players can poll) with the thinking behind this that the variations from the half votes will even out over the long term.

If you intend on using our Brownlow votes to bet why not consider one of the best Australian sports betting sites which offer some great features for new customers. 2019 Brownlow Medal Predicted Votes – Round 1

Carlton 9.10.64 def by Richmond 14.13.97

Similar to previous years, Carlton were competitive in the season opener, but ultimately fell short against Richmond. The Tigers were well led by Trent Cotchin who had 31 disposals and six clearances to lift his side when they were challenged. Dustin Martin had 30 touches but wasn’t dominant, while Toby Nankervis had a strong game with 17 disposals, 34 hitouts and 3 goals. For the Blues, Patrick Cripps was in menacing form with 32 disposals and 6 tackles, while Sam Walsh impressed on debut with 24 disposals as a player of the future.

Trent Cotchin – 3
Patrick Cripps – 2
Toby Nankervis - 1

Collingwood 9.11.65 def by Geelong 10.12.72

The Cats got the win in a tight, scrappy match, with Tim Kelly a standout with 31 disposals and 9 clearances. Patrick Dangerfield was good with 27 disposals and a goal, while Tom Stewart patrolled half-back with 26 disposals. Adam Treloar was prolific with 34 disposals, 6 tackles and a goal on a disappointing evening for the Pies.

He was well supported by Travis Boak who had 34 disposals, 9 marks, 8 tackles and a goal, while Justin Westhoff was the spearhead in attack with 5 goals from 18 disposals and 9 marks. Travis Boak - 1

Adelaide 7.13.55 def by Hawthorn 12.15.87

The Hawks continued their dominances of the Crows with a big away win to kick-start their season. They were without Tom Mitchell, but James Worpel (27 disposals, 2 goals) and Jaegar O’Meara (24 disposals, 2 goals) stepped up in the middle, while James Sicily seems set for a big year with 26 disposals and 10 marks. The Hawks won the game but the big stats were with the Crows mids with Rory Sloane (36 disposals, 9 tackles, 1 goal) and Matt Crouch (40 disposals, 1 goal) who were both enormous. Could be a tricky game for Brownlow votes.

Seb Ross (27 disposals), Jack Billings (28 disposals), Jack Newnes (23 disposals) and Jack Steele (22 disposals, 10 tackles, 1 goal) are all a chance while Brayden Fiorini (30 disposals, 6 tackles) was the leading ball winner on the ground. Josh Bruce provided the target for the Saints with 18 touches, 6 marks and 3 goals.

Seb Ross – 2
Jack Billings – 2
