2018 Super Rugby Round 15 Preview & Betting Tips

May 24th 2018, 10:44am, By: matta91

Round 15 of the 2018 Super Rugby season is set to be another great one and we have you covered with our Super Rugby betting tips for every match. The round kicks off this Friday night with a big clash between the Crusaders and Hurricanes!

Super Rugby Round 15 Betting Tips

Crusaders vs Hurricanes (Friday, May 25 5:35pm AEST)

Round 15 could not start any better with a potential Grand Final preview at AMI Stadium. The Crusaders will aim for their 8th straight win and the Hurricanes amazingly haven’t lost since Round 2. During that stretch, they beat the Crusaders 29-19 at home. But the Crusaders are 2-1 when they’re the home team in this matchup. The key for both sides has mainly been defence where they rank 1st and 2nd with under 20 points allowed per match. While in attack, the Hurricanes are the best side in Super Rugby by points scored and the Crusaders rank 3rd. As a result, this should be a close encounter and the odds say the same. So I would suggest getting on the Tri Bet 8.5 with both sides capable of winning this.

Rebels vs Sunwolves (Friday, May 25 7:45pm AEST)

On Friday night, the 5-6 Rebels and 2-9 Sunwolves meet at AAMI Park. The Rebels are coming off a bye and they will face an in-form Sunwolves team. They beat the Stormers last week after the 80 minutes and thrashed the Reds previously. So they’ll be looking to overturn a 0-19 record in away Super Rugby matches. They have never played in Melbourne and the Rebels have won both meetings over in Japan. Which includes a 37-17 win in March. However, the line isn’t giving the winning Sunwolves much respect. The Rebels are hard to trust and winning form is the key for the Japanese side. So take them at +24.5.

Jaguares vs Sharks (Saturday, May 26 5:40am AEST)

The Jaguares are looking like a legitimate threat after their 5th straight win. So they’ll look to beat the Sharks for the first time in Super Rugby. The Sharks are 4-0 against them but they’ve all been decided by under 9 points. They have won both in Argentina as well. But the Sharks travelling record in 2018 is poor at 1-5 and that should be the difference here. The Jaguares thrashed the Bulls 54-24 at home last match. In that match, the Jags led at HT and FT. So I can’t see the Sharks leading in this one.

Chiefs vs Waratahs (Saturday, May 26 5:35pm AEST)

FMG Stadium Waikato plays host to the 7-4 Chiefs and 6-4 Waratahs in Super Rugby action on Saturday. For the Chiefs, they return home after a close loss to the Sharks last week. Meanwhile for the Waratahs, they snapped the infamous Australian Super Rugby losing record against NZ sides. The Waratahs were impressive as they crushed the Highlanders by 29 points. I think that win will give them huge confidence of winning this in NZ. They also have a 5-2 record against the Chiefs. The Chiefs are just 9-18 ATS as the home team and they’re also 1-4 ATS versus the Waratahs. So take the Tahs at the line.

Reds vs Highlanders (Saturday, May 26 7:45pm AEST)

On Saturday night, the 4-7 Reds and 7-4 Highlanders meet at Suncorp Stadium. Last week, the Reds only just lost to the Hurricanes at Westpac Stadium by 4 points. Which was a huge improvement after the Sunwolves thrashed them. The Highlanders were no match for the Waratahs at Allianz Stadium. At Suncorp, the Reds love playing the Highlanders with 4 straight wins since 2010. So get on the line for the Reds because they could win this again, especially after the Highlanders last performance.

Bulls vs Brumbies (Saturday, May 26 11:05pm AEST)

The poor Brumbies will look to end a 5 match losing streak when they take on the Bulls. They were no match for the Lions last week in a 42-24 loss. The Bulls won’t be happy after last week’s 54-24 loss in Argentina. They’re 4-2 at home and that spells trouble for the out of form ACT Brumbies. They rank last in Super Rugby for points scored so I can’t see them competing with the South Africans. The Bulls are a decent scoring team and should easily stop the Brumbies in attack. So I’ll be getting on the line for the home side.

Stormers vs Lions (Sunday, May 27 1:15am AEST)

On Sunday, the Stormers are playing host to their foe the Lions at DHL Newlands. The Stormers are coming off a tight 23-26 loss against the Sunwolves last game at Mong Kok Stadium. During their last 5 games, they have a 2-3 record. Meanwhile for the Lions, they also have a 2-3 record in their last 5 matches. But they were impressive last match as they crushed the Brumbies. They have 4-0 record against the Stormers and thrashed them 52-31 in the first meeting this season. However, the Stormers love home matches in 2018 with a 5-1 record and the Lions are 2-4 in away matches. So I believe this matchup can be decided by under 8.5 points in either direction.
