2018 AFL: Daily Fantasy Tips for Round 18

July 20th 2018, 9:48am, By: andyrosos

AFL Fantasy Tips

Another Saturday, another $50k guaranteed on the line in the major AFL tournament of the week at Draftstars! We are back once again with our Draftstars fantasy team of the week for the massive five game slate this Saturday below.

Remember, along with Draftstars this Saturday  there are also some great AFL tournaments at PlayON and Moneyball that you can get stuck into!

Defenders: Rory Laird, Connor Ballenden

After some injury concerns mid way through the season, Rory Laird has reclaimed the title of the best scoring defender in the league. He hasn’t scored under 100 in his last six games and has just two scores under 100 all year.

Connor Ballenden comes in for his first game in the AFL on the weekend. Is a tall forward but looks mobile from footage and is a bargain basement option at $5,000. Allows us to go heavy in other places and Adelaide are in the top half of the league in allowing points to forwards.

Midfielders: Matt Crouch, Patrick Dangerfield, Jake Melksham, Robbie Fox

Crouch and Dangerfield are no brainers this weekend. The Lions allow the fourth most points in the league to top three opposing midfielders, so signs point to Crouch having a big day here. Danger’s opponents, Melbourne, allow 86 points per midfielder, which is good for the fifth most in the league.

Melksham is a bit of a wildcard, capable of floating forward and kicking multiple goals. He has a high score of 111 this year and has been an underrated cog in the Melbourne midfield. Fox seems to have earned his place in the Sydney attack/midfield with scores of 83 and 65 over the last two weeks and will be asked to do plenty more this weekend with both Jack and Hannebery out.

Forwards: Isaac Heeney, Lance Franklin

Make no mistake, Sydney should monster the Gold Coast this weekend. Im expecting a massive margin and for these to blokes to kick multiple goals and be everywhere. Like Fox, Heeney will have a massively increased role in the midfield and should be a key cog in the forward line when resting. Scored 103 on the weekend and is quickly becoming Sydney’s 2nd most important player.

Their most important? Obviously Lance Franklin. The dominant forward scored 97 last week including nine marks and three goals. Is eight goals behind on the Coleman leaderboard and I expect him to give that a real nudge this weekend.

Ruck: Darcy Cameron

Comes in for his first game of the season and will be playing as a second ruck/forward to Cam Sinclair but is a bargain basement price at just $5,000 and I expect this Sydney-gold Coast game to be an absolute scoring fest.
