2017 Super Rugby Round 15 Preview & Betting Tips

June 29th 2017, 4:12pm, By: C.McGregor9

The 2017 Super Rugby season continues with a split round over the next few weekends. We take a look at all the games in our Super Rugby Round 15 Preview and Betting Tips below.

Super Rugby Round 15 Betting Tips

Friday June 30th - Saturday, July 1st Games

After a three week hiatus, Super Rugby action returns this weekend with Round 15 coming to an end with four matches being played. All games will be played between sides from the South African conference.

Sharks vs Bulls (Saturday 3am AEST)

The Sharks have everything to play for in this match as they hold onto the last wildcard spot on the ladder. A bonus point victory in this one would see them jump into seventh spot on the ladder and they would secure a spot in the finals. Meanwhile a loss would keep them in danger of dropping out. The side has been strong this season but inconsistent at times. They look the most dangerous when they keep the ball in their hands, apply pressure and keep the scoreboard ticking over with penalties.

Meanwhile the Bulls have had a disastrous season and have earned only three wins from their 12 matches. The side has struggled to score points and while their defence has been solid, their inability to put points on the board themselves has cost them. We believe they will keep this contest close but ultimately they will end up losing.

TIP: Sharks at the margin (1-12) – $3.00 at Sportsbet

Jaguares vs Kings (Saturday 9.05am AEST)

These two sides seasons are over but they have improved drastically on their performances from last year. The Jaguares have five wins after 12 games while the Kings have four. The two sides have been similar in attack but it is the Jaguares defence which separates them from their opponents. They will enter this match on home soil and we are predicting them to put a big score line on their opponents who have struggled on the road this year.

TIP: Jaguares at the line (-13.5) – $1.90 at CrownBet

Cheetahs vs Stormers (Saturday 11.05pm AEST)

The Stormers are on the top of the South African Conference 1, but they have been far from impressive this season. They have seven wins from 12 matches but are in an easier conference than the majority of the other sides in Super Rugby. They suffered a 22-10 loss in their last match, a month ago, against the Sharks on the road. The side struggled in attack and they weren’t able to capitalise on their minimal opportunities.

However, the Stormers face a Cheetahs side which is as inconsistent as they come. You never know which side will turn up as they have the capabilities of putting on brilliant attacking displays but they can also have multiple turnovers and errors throughout their matches which leads to them suffering a big loss. They have been out of action for a month and we believe their will be plenty of rust which will lead to the Stormers earning a big win.

TIP: Stormers at the line (-7.5) – $1.95 at Sportsbet

Lions vs Sunwolves (Sunday 1.15am AEST)

The Lions have continued to improve throughout the season and they have came close to equalling their best from last year. The side has moved to second on the ladder and we can’t see them coming close to suffering an upset in this one.

It will likely be a long afternoon for the Sunwolves, who are notoriously bad on the road. The side has one win to its name this season and they have conceded a remarkable 504 points in their 12 matches. We believe the Lions will put on a big score line in this one with their attack and defence being showcased. They will get past the line comfortably.

TIP: Lions at the line (-33.5) – $1.95 at Sportsbet

Friday, June 2nd - Saturday, June 3rd Games

Blues vs Reds (Friday 5.35pm AEST)

This will be the first Super Rugby match to be played in Samoa and hopefully for the crowd it is an exciting one. We are predicting it to be a whitewash in favour of the Blues, who are clearly the stronger side entering this contest.

They weren’t able to get the job done last week against the Chiefs but they held on for a draw. It has been a common storyline for the Blues this year who have been in positions to win a lot of games but just can’t get over the line. They will be able to run away with this one though.

The Reds suffered an embarrasing loss on home soil last week and it all but ends their opportunity to reach the Super Rugby finals. The side brought in a lot of experience for this season but it hasn’t paid dividends as they are looking like an aging roster.

TIP: Blues at the line (-15.5) – $1.90 at Sportsbet

Crusaders vs Highlanders (Saturday 12.35pm AEST)

Rugby fans will be treated with an absolute block buster match in the middle of the day on Saturday. The Crusaders will put their undefeated season on the line against the inform Highlanders.

The Highlanders had a slow start against the Waratahs and were trailing 14-13 at half-time. However, it didn’t last long as they were able to capitalise on the ill-discipline of the Waratahs and they ran away with the match for a comfortable win. Their attacking flair was on display as they scored 44-points.

Meanwhile the Crusaders were able to improve to 13 wins from as many matches this season on the road against the Rebels. The title favourites put the footdown in the first half to lead 31-7 and they cruised to fulltime for a 41-19 victory. The side will have the home field advantage in this one and there is no point betting against a side in this form.

TIP: Crusaders margin (1-12) – $2.80 at William Hill

Chiefs vs Waratahs (Saturday 3.05pm AEST)

The Waratahs will be playing for their season on Saturday but unfortauntely for them and their fans, we can’t see them causing an upset in this one. They fought hard to take a half-time lead against the Highlanders but ultimately their defence isn’t up to the standard of Super Rugby this season and their ill-discipline cost them – especially when Dean Mumm was given a yellow card.

As mentioned above, the Chiefs played out a draw with the Blues. It was the second match in a row that they had scored more tries than their opponents but they weren’t able to earn the maximum competition points. Their attack is strong and they should be able to bust open the Waratahs defence with ease and as they match goes on we expect them to pull away on the score board.

TIP: Chiefs at the line (-16.5) – $1.90 at CrownBet

Brumbies vs Rebels (Saturday 7.45pm AEST)

The Brumbies enter this one as the clear leaders in the Australian conference and they can all but seal a spot in the finals with a victory in this one. We believe they will be able to do it as they will have memories of the Rebels earning an upset victory against them earlier this season. They will have the advantage of playing in front of their home crowd in this one and they will be full of confidence after a huge victory against the Jaguares last week.

Meanwhile the Rebels have been on the wrong end of some big scoreboards this season. Their defence has been cracked on a lot of occasions and even though they have produced their best performances against Australian opponents, their record on the road speaks for itself.

TIP: Brumbies margin (1-12) – $3.10 at William Hill

Force vs Hurricanes (Saturday 9.55pm AEST)

The Force produced their biggest victory of the season by defeating the Reds in Queensland, however there is next to no chance they will earn two victories in a row as they come up against the defending champions.

The force had a 13-5 lead at the break but they relinquished it early as the Reds took a 26-23 lead. However, the Force showed a lot of fight to scored 17 unanswered points for the 40-26 victory. The Force were aided but the ill-discipline of the Reds which saw Nick Frisby and Eto Nabuli receive yellow cards.

Meanwhile the Hurricanes will enter this match after overcoming the Bulls in Pretoria. It was a tight match at half-time with the Hurricanes leading 14-13 but a dominant second half saw them earn a comfortable 34-20 victory. They scored three tries to one in the match and we can see them scoring a lot more in this contest.

TIP: Hurricanes at the line (-19.5) – $1.90 at Sportsbet
