Hurricanes vs Highlanders (Saturday 5.35pm AEST)
The Hurricanes and Highlanders are both deserving sides to reach Super Rugby’s biggest stage. The Hurricanes have dominated the competition from start until finish and have only lost two matches all season by two relatively short margins.
Whilst the Highlanders have had a few bad periods, they have also bounced back well and they peaked at the perfect time as they made easy work of the Chiefs and then were able to outclass the Waratahs last week in Sydney.
These two sides met a month ago and it was the Hurricanes that dominated the Highlanders and they made a statement to the rest of the competition as they thrashed them 56-20. The Highlanders would have done their homework after this match it should be a lot closer this Saturday night.
The Highlanders will need to be strong at all of their set pieces and they can’t afford to turn the ball over anywhere on the park and allow the Hurricanes counter attack to do too much damage. The Hurricanes have shown they can score from anywhere on the park all season and it was no different last week as they were too strong for the Brumbies. The score line didn’t reflect the dominance of the New Zealand side that was in cruise control for the majority of the match.
The Highlanders will put up a fight but this is the Hurricanes match to lose.
