Rosehill Racing Tips: Saturday, June 14th 2025

Race 4: Racing and Sports BM72 1400m – 12:45pm (AEST)

(3) Hell To Pay: 3YO Gelding who has been super honest of late and was rewarded last start winning over 1550m in this grade on the heavy conditions. He has a terrific wet track record and the drop back to 1400m doesn’t look all that bad with his previous runs being solid over 1250m and 1300m. Draws well and gets a nice 2kg claim with Roper on board. Top hope.

(4) Dame Commander: Progressive 3YO filly who made a solid return over the mile at Group 3 level, before stepping back to this grade and trip to score impressively second-up under 58kg and the runner up of that race (SOUNDS UNUSUAL) has gone on to win by nearly 6 lengths over this same trip/grade, solid form line. She was then thrown in the deep end last start in Group 2 company, where she was vetted post-race and found to have pulled up with thumps — a genuine excuse for the below-par effort. Back to BM72 grade here, she finds a much more suitable assignment and maps to control the race from the front. Value.

(8) Hopper: 3YO Gelding who was crunched in the market for his first up run as a gelding and he got the chocolates nicely over 1300m. He then buttered up over 1500m and was motoring to the line to only narrowly miss over 1500m on the heavy deck. Back to 1400m for this third up run and once again he has been well supported in the market. $7.50 into $4.80 favourite. Goes well.

(4) Dame Commander E/W

$9.00/$2.90 (1u/2u)

Race 8: Cincotta Chemist Winter Cup 2400m – 3:05pm (AEST)

(1) Changingoftheguard: 6YO Gelding who resumes today and has won a trial over 1200m leading into this which boosts confidence. Second behind First Light at the backend of last prep over this trip. This fella goes well fresh and can handle the wet track. Consider.

(3) Touristic: Dominant last start winner who had been knocking on the door and was deserving another win. He loves the wet and goes really well at this track. He is yet to tackle 2400m, but looks primed after last starts effort. Drawn well and will be right in this.

(5) Bear On The Loose: 5YO Gelding who was terrific in defeat last start over 2000m behind Glory Daze, but had a 2-3L gap to third and then another 15L to fourth place. He is fourth up now, so is rock hard fit and remains on the weather effected track which is where he does his best work with 3 wins from 4 jumps on the soft. This is a tougher affair, but gets 5.5kg off his back from last start. Expecting him to slot in up on the pace from the wide draw and either dictate or get a tow in behind a front runner. Hard to look past off last starts effort.

(5) Bear On The Loose

$2.50 (2.5 units)

Race 9: Tab BM78 2000m - 3:45pm (AEST)

(6) Half Yours: 4YO gelding in career-best form this prep, with two wins and a strong second when resuming. A proven wet tracker, he thrives in these conditions, and his last-start win was nothing short of dominant — launching from the tail of the field at the 600m mark and putting them away with ease, winning with his leg in the air. He does rise 3.5kg off that effort, but the way he let down suggests he’ll handle this. The step to 2000m looks ideal at this stage of his campaign, and if the tempo is genuine, expect him to be charging over the top late or expect another midrace move to try and pinch it in similar fashion.

(7) Quantum Cat: 5YO gelding in terrific form and clearly relishing the wet conditions this prep. Two starts back, he tackled this grade over 1800m carrying 58.5kg and was brave in defeat, finishing a narrow second to JAMBEROO, with a big 4-length gap back to third — a strong form reference. He then stepped up to 2000m in BM88 company and again ran well, finishing third behind GLORY DAZE/BEAR ON THE LOOSE, with a huge 10–15 length margin to fourth. Importantly, he wasn’t punished late when it was clear the leaders were out of reach, suggesting there was more in the tank. He now drops back to BM78 grade and gets in beautifully at the weights with a 3kg claim. The wet track is a big tick, and while he’s drawn wide, the map looks favourable with limited speed engaged. Expect him to push forward and find a spot on speed. Over the odds?

(9) Rise To It: 5YO Gelding who looks ready fourth up for 2000m. He gets in nicely with Roper claiming 2kg and maps to dictate out in front. IF she can handle the wet over 2000m and dictate to his liking out in front he will take catching.

Also Backing: (7) Quantum Cat - $10 at BoomBet (1 unit)

(6) Half Yours

$3.60 (2.5 units)
