NFL 2019-20: Week 7 Preview & Betting Tips

October 16th 2019, 11:29am, By: matta91

Week 7 of the NFL season kicks off on Friday morning as the Broncos host the Chiefs in a massive AFC West clash! We have our best bets of the week including the marquee games for Australian fans below!

NFL Week 7 Betting Tips

Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos (Friday 11.20am AEDT)

After back to back home defeats, the 4-2 Kansas City Chiefs head to Denver for a tough divisional matchup. The Chiefs run defence continues to trouble them in this losing streak. Last week, the Texans ran for 192 yards and 3 touchdowns. So stopping the Broncos running game will be the key. The positive out of last week’s defeat was the return of dynamic WR Tyreek Hill. With Sammy Watkins on the sidelines, Mahomes found Hill in the endzone twice and he finished with 10 targets.

An impressive 16-0 home shutout of the Titans has the 2-4 Broncos back in the race for the playoffs. Denver’s defence was superb, finishing with 7 sacks and 3 interceptions. Their running game controlled the clock with Lindsay running for a score on 15 carries. They’ll likely need to score a few more points against the Chiefs high powered offence. But their gameplan won’t change much on a short week. They love running the ball and they should enjoy a soft matchup against the Chiefs 30th ranked run defence.

The Chiefs have the wood over the Broncos lately with a 5-0 SU record but the last 3 have been close contests. On a short week and with two divisional rivals in play, we’re looking for another tight affair. Ultimately, it’s hard to back against this Broncos D after shutting out the Titans. Obviously, the Chiefs possess more scoring potential but they do have a few injuries at the moment. So we like the Under, which has saluted in 9 of the last 10 Broncos home games and it’s also 15-3 when they host a team with a winning road record.

Philadelphia Eagles at Dallas Cowboys (Monday 11.20am AEDT)

The Eagles inconsistent season continued in Week 6 with a disappointing 38-20 defeat in Minnesota. Their pass defence was pretty awful last week as Diggs and Cousins connected for 167 yards and 3 scores as an example. So they’ll need to stop Dak Prescott and the Cowboys passing game to get back on track. With the Eagles playing in 3 straight road games, this is a huge game in the context of the NFC East divisional race for Philadelphia.

After a 3-0 start to the year, the Cowboys season has a hit a crossroads. Following a poor defensive showing against the Packers at home, the Cowboys simply had to beat the winless Jets. Well, the Jets had different ideas in a huge 24-22 upset. Similarly to the Eagles poor pass D, Dallas just could not stop the Jets passing game. To make matters worse, star wideout Amari Cooper suffered a first-quarter injury and will be questionable for this clash.

With the Giants and Redskins basically rebuilding, the NFC East should be decided between these two sides. So the stakes can’t be higher in this Monday afternoon clash. Ultimately, both sides are showing problems against defending the passing game so we like the chances of a high scoring shootout between Prescott and Wentz. Dallas also has a great Overs record after giving up 350+ total yards (9-1) and it’s 6-0 in their last 6 games against the division.

New England Patriots at New York Yets (Tuesday 11.15am AEDT)

With a perfect 6-0 record in 2019, the New England Patriots just continue to play at a high level. They easily accounted for the Giants last Friday, 35-14. Their elite defence is ranked 1st for takeaways (+9) and added 3 more interceptions in last week’s victory. Along with a blocked punt TD and a fumble return TD. The only question mark on the Pats is injuries. WR Josh Gordon continues to struggle with injury, Edelman is battling broken ribs, Dorsett didn’t play last week and Burkhead has a foot issue. But with Tom Brady and Bill Belichick at the helm, anything’s possible with this impressive organisation.

The Jets are going to be fired up for this AFC East battle after a massive win over the Cowboys last week. Sam Darnold’s return from injury sparked the Jets struggling offence. He reignited his combination with Anderson as the pair dominated the Cowboys secondary. While on defence, the Jets quelled the influence of Elliot and pressured Prescott. So it’s a good test for this matchup against the undefeated Pats.

The two teams met in Week 3 with a comfortable 30-14 Patriots victory. However, Sam Darnold wasn’t playing and the Jets are a different team with him around. So we like the chances of the Jets keeping this one close. Winning 7 games on the trot is never easy and the Patriots continue to struggle with injuries. They also don’t have a great ATS record in New York against the Jets (1-5). If the Jets can play mistake-free football, they’re a good chance of beating the 10 point spread.
