I absolutely detest this horse but today is the day to finally back (11) Adana! I've taken this horse on both starts this prep and it's paid off but I think it's time to jump on today. He's a non-winner and he finds plenty of trouble but he gets conditions to suit today with a wet track. He's had two starts on wet ground and has finished top two in both, including his sole career win. With any luck at all he'll be hard to beat in this field today.
I backed (8) Humbolt Current last start so I have to stick with him today. He was beaten a nose in Melbourne last start on heavy ground and he'll get similar conditions on his return to Sydney today. The horse that ran 3rd in his race last start has since come out and won so that's a good sign for the strength of the form. He's third up today, steps up to 2000m and James McDonald goes on. He's won his only previous start when third up from a spell so he should be ready to win. Drawn well in barrier 6 and he looks the one to beat.
Backing both (8) Roosevelt and (9) God Of Thunder here at equal stakes, so hopefully Roosevelt can win. I thought he effort first up from a spell was reasonable. He carried top weight, they ran along very quickly in front and he was only run down late. I think he'll come on plenty from that and I also think he'll be much better suited on wet ground today. His two career wins have both come on wet ground so I expect him to be hard to beat in the small field. God Of Thunder was huge in defeat first up. He recorded the best final 800m of the race and was beaten just a nose. He won't be too far away at all in the small field today and I think he's probably the classiest horse in the field, it's just whether he handles the ground.
A trip to Hong Kong quickly had Tim hooked to the racing caper, maintaining the best place anywhere in the world on a Wednesday night is Happy Valley. He holds a strong interest in the Hong Kong form, along with the metropolitan racing in Sydney and Melbourne, and his home town of Perth. He’s a fan of dry tracks, Zac Purton and takes particular interest in identifying patterns in the form. Tim wears many hats, juggling the roles of racing form analyst for Before You Bet, jockey manager and racehorse owner.
