The St Louis Cardinals went into this five-game series on top of the NL Central division. Four games later and four losses later, the Pittsburgh Pirates have stolen 1st place in the division.
TheCardinals led all day with 13 hits and 4 runs. They left 11 runners in scoring position and couldnt hold off the Pirates, eventually going down 5-4.
If the Pirates win this final game of the series it will be the first sweep of the Cardinals ( in a five game series) since 1916. This should be extra motivation for the slumping Cardinals who are in the midst of a 7-game losing streak.
Pirates starter Charlie Morton has struggled against the Cardinals with a 6.17 ERA over his career.
