Wednesday’s horse racing will be held across five venues, as we focus on Victoria’s Geelong meeting and Western Australia’s Bunbury meeting. Two of our three best bets are trying to break their maiden status, while another is an each-way price in a Class 1 handicap.

Geelong Racing Tips: Wednesday, October 7th 2026
Race 2 · Roderick Insurance Brokers Maiden Plate · 1765m · 3:40pm AEDT
(9) Fringilla is building nicely this campaign with a last-start second placing at this track over 1425m. Prepared by Team Hayes for Godolphin, the three-year-old filly debuted over 1300m at Bendigo when finishing sixth. It was a solid effort as she raced keenly in fourth place in the run, and lost ground in the final 100m. At her second start, she settled better in the run, again in fourth position before finding the line much stronger. Although being no match for the winner, she finished more than four lengths ahead of the fourth-placed runner.
(8) Murshidi finished third last start when racing over 1500m at Bendigo. Looking at the run, the three-year-old Ciaron Maher-trained gelding looks to be looking for further so the step up in trip looks suitable. He looks the main danger.
(2) Nightowl is still trying to break his maiden at start number 12. He’s been runner up five times, two of those being the barest of margins in New Zealand. He was fourth last start when leading over the mile at Bendigo. Looks to have each-way claims.

Race 5 · Geelong Homes Class 1 Handicap · 1147m · 5:25pm AEDT
(2) Prince Pienza returned to the races last month with an impressive second behind Yolo. The four-year-old gelding was last in the field of 13 and was wide in the home straight as he flew home. He should appreciate an inside gate and try to settle ahead of a few runners. The smaller field of eight runners should help, and the winner from that previous race, Yolo, has since won a Benchmark 66 Handicap. Add in the fact that Ziggy Bama, who was third behind Prince Pienza, won a Benchmark 62 at his next start.
(3) Turbo Saint was successful at his racetrack debut for trainer Clinton McDonald, settling fourth in the run and pouncing when Ben Melham asked him to go. He should map perfectly from gate two with Melham retaining the ride, and there shouldn’t be any excuses for why he can’t make it back-to-back wins.
(5) Shaadrille has raced just once for a victory, winning by 0.3 lengths at Moe over 1108m on a wet track. From gate three, jockey Dylan Dunn will be racing right on the speed and he should be given every opportunity to win again.

Bunbury Racing Tips: Wednesday, October 7th 2026
Race 1 · Country Comfort Perth Racy Weekend Package Maiden · 1400m · 1:34pm (4:34pm AEDT)
(1) Tex ’N’ Cee has been runner up in both career starts for trainer Neville Parnham and the gelding looks poised to break through for a well-deserved maiden success. He draws better than both starts to date as gate three gives Steven Parnham the chance to settle better than midfield. The three-year-old charged through the line last start and stepping up to 1400m might be what the son of Splintex needs.
(3) Moose was beaten as a $1.70 favourite on debut but he was set a task and it was impossible for him to be able to win. The closing sectionals were good for this field and he should take plenty of benefit from that first outing. Looks a huge threat.
(8) Lunaris is building into her campaign and you would have to expect there will be further improvement again. She probably has to settle out near the back from the draw but can close well with Pike riding.
