October 2nd 2026, 3:49pm, By: Shannon Buckley

Randwick Racing Tips

Royal Randwick hosts a 10 Race card with the Group 1 Darley Flight Stakes and the Group 1 TAB Epsom as the key standout features on the card. The two Group 1s are accompanied by the Group 2 Asahi Super Dry Metropolitan & Precise Air Premiere Stakes.

The rail is in its true position, and selections are for a GOOD/SOFT track with some minor showers leading in and overcast weather predicted for race day– watch and monitor if possible.

The first race kicks off at 12.05pm AEST and the last concludes at 5:25pm AEST.

Shannon Buckley has done the form to bring you his best bets for day from Randwick. And if you're keen to try a new bookmaker this Saturday, why not check out Next2Go - your new punting playground!

Royal Randwick Racing Tips: Saturday, October 3rd 2026

Race 6 – Darley Flight Stakes - 1600m – GROUP 1 (3:00pm AEST)

(1) Bangkok Hottie – 3YO Filly who has strung together a couple of nice wins and was good winning most recently when being up on the speed and kicking away making it a little too hard for key rivals STRIKING ALIBI / GLOBAL GOAL to run her down. Highly rated filly, but the rise to 1600m may be a fraction to far for her and I think the other key rivals may have her covered over the mile. Maps to track STRIKING ALIBI and may be able to stick on with a economical run. Talented enough.

(2) Striking Alibi – 3YO Filly who has been encouraging in her two runs back where she has hit the line intently in both runs. First up over 1200m she had a lovely run and was very good late finishing 3rd behind BANGKOK HOTTIE closing intently, just ran out of runway. Second up was 1400m and she had a tricky run where she had to weave her way through traffic but again was very good hitting the line and only narrowly went down. Rises to 1600m now and third up with a map that suggests she will dictate out in front, so shouldn’t have any excuses. J-Mac should be able to dictate to her liking out in front and may take catching if she gets a few cheap sectionals.

(3) Global Goal – 3YO filly who looks a great bet third-up. Her recent effort over 1400m was very good, settling midfield before being forced to peel widest and then held up slightly in the straight. Once clear, she savaged the line to finish third behind BANGKOK HOTTIE and STRIKING ALIBI (CLOSED NICELY). The rise to 1600m looks ideal and she should be rock hard fit third up. From barrier 5 she maps to get a lovely run just behind the favourites, giving her the chance to have the drop on them turning for home. BANGKOK HOTTIE looks vulnerable at the mile, while STRIKING ALIBI is likely to lead and set this up nicely for us to swoop late. Happy to have a crack and should be thereabouts

(3) Global Goal - WIN

$3.10 (2.5 Units)

Race 7 – Asahi Super Dry Metropolitan – 2400m – GROUP 2 (3:35pm AEST)

(7) Aethelwulf – 4YO Gelding who just keeps winning. Looking for five wins in a row and hasn’t showed any signs of being beaten in his last few. Dominant wins over 2000m and 2300m with the most recent being at group 3 level. Drawn well and Zac Lloyd remains in the saddle who is 4 from 4 when on top. The one they all have to beat.

(9) Piggy Back – 6YO Mare who has been closing out her recent races nicely and looks ready for 2400m now fourth up. Drawn well and maps to get another tow into the race and if they are making ground late in the day, she could be every chance of a blow out here. Roughie of the race.

(12) Pinhole – 5YO Gelding who we tipped last start, and he was excellent winning over 1900m where he picked them all up down the outside, including the talented STARZINTHEIREYES. He looks to be a genuine staying type and the rise to 2400m should be no issues off the way he has hit the line in his last two. This is a big rise in class now but only needs to lug 53kg. Early market support has been good and looks another good each way chance.

(7) Aethelwulf - WIN

$2.20 (4 Units)

Race 8 – TAB Epsom – 1600m – GROUP 1 (4:10pm AEST)

(3) Autumn Boy – 4YO Horse who looks primed third up today after a sound enough first up run and then very good second up run only being beaten by the very good SHEZA ALIBI. (Looked to have the rest beaten easily). Draws pole position today and will get a lovely run with J-Mac in the saddle. Goes well third up, relishes this trip and will be ever chance. Major player.

(4) Idle Flyer – 5YO Mare who hasn’t quite been at her best this time in but did look to be finding late last start when running on in a small field. She is rock hard fit now being fourth up and even though draws a sticky gate, she maps to get a handy enough cart up just off midfield and if there is speed injected into the race things will be set up nicely for her to run on and be a knockout chance. Group 1 winner last campaign and on best form she is a sniff. Requires luck, but capable of a bold race. Blow out hope.

(6) Well Written – 4YO mare who brings an outstanding record to Australia, unbeaten in all seven starts including two Group 1 victories, both won by good margins. This is clearly her toughest test yet and the handicapper hasn't done her any favours, so she will need to bring her A-game. That said, she draws nicely in barrier 3 which should give her every chance to get a soft run in transit. Zac Lloyd takes the reins for her Australian debut and that is certainly no disadvantage. There has been some encouraging early market support, and she is clearly a talented mare who looks capable of matching it with the Aussies. Just knows how to win. Major player.

(6) Well Written - WIN

$3.80 (2 Units)

Race 9 – Precise Air Premiere Stakes – 1200m – GROUP 2 (4:45pm AEST)

(3) Headwall – 7YO Gelding who is a very talented sprinter and was very good fresh when running in behind TEMPTED and arguably probably should’ve won that race with a little more luck in running. Second up effort was sound when being caught wide, but still only finished a length off the winner. Strips fitter again being third up and at the current quote he looks a nice each way play. Meets TEMPTED worse at the weights, but the first up battle is encouraging. Each way.

(10) Tempted – 4YO Mare who is a very good sprinter and continues to win. Fresh run was good and her turn of foot was still sharp. Rises to 1200m now where she is 8:5-1-1 and absolutely loves this track with 6 wins and a second from 7 runs. Clearly the one they all have to beat and the only thing that gets her beat is if she gets caught wide from the barrier and has to overwork. The one they all have to beat.

(11) Generosity – 6YO Mare who resumed in the Group 1 Moir and albeit finishing 7th, she was sound enough for that fresh run and was battling through to the line late. She has since had a trial to tick things over and will be stripping much fitter for this second up run. Second up record is solid and goes well over 1200m. J-Mac steers which will boost confidence and at the current quote she looks a nice blow chance. Worth a nibble.

Also Backing: (11) Generosity - EW $41/$6.80 (0.5 Units)

(3) Headwall - WIN

$10 (1 Unit)
