Australia vs Brazil Preview & Betting Tips

Match Preview

Nestory Irankunda’s stunning free kick looked to have the Socceroos on track for an upset over Brazil, however they couldn’t hold on, conceding in the 95th minute to be held to a 1-1 draw.

Brazil did control proceedings, winning the shot count 16-7 and registering 64% possession. Australia didn’t play as defensive as they did throughout the World Cup, and looked more potent in attack, however it’s going to be tough to back up again on Tuesday if they can’t close the possession battle.

Australia were able to get control of the game early, however they need to be able to do it for longer periods of time if they are going to compete against the world’s best.

Substitute Rayan was the man who produced the equalising goal for Brazil, making a big impact after coming on in the 76th minute.

Raphina was Brazil’s best player on the night, recording an assist along with 4 shots on goal in what was an impressive performance by the Barcelona forward.

Despite the frustration of the performance, Brazil still have an excellent record against the Socceroos, with a 7-3-2 record.

Match Prediction

Despite not getting the result they wanted, Brazil were on top in all the key assets of the game and were able to work the ball around, not allowing the Socceroos to get pressure on the ball. The five time world champions recorded 301 more passes than Australia, and their 633 passes were delivered at 87% accuracy.

The two biggest questions coming into this game for the Socceroos is can they find a way to maintain possession for long periods of time, and can their defence hold on when Brazil has repeated attacking opportunities at goal. If Australia can do these things, just like on Friday they will be a red hot chance to cause a massive upset.

Brazil’s last three games have all resulted in margins of one goal or less, so we’ll be looking at the Socceroos to cover the handicap in this game.

Five of Australia’s last six games have resulted in just one goal margins, and with Australia’s defensive set up it should be another close game.

The Socceroos will be desperate to make amends for not being able to get over the line on Friday, so expect another energetic performance on Tuesday. Expecting Australia to keep things close once again.
