2026 PGA Tour: Genesis Scottish Open Betting Tips

July 8th 2026, 4:03pm, By: Andy Rosos

Genesis Scottish Open Betting Preview

The PGA TOUR makes its annual trip across the Atlantic this week for the Genesis Scottish Open, the final stop before The Open Championship and one of the strongest non-major fields of the season.

Co-sanctioned with the DP World Tour, the Genesis Scottish Open has become the perfect dress rehearsal for links golf, with The Renaissance Club once again hosting the event. Wind, firm conditions and a world-class field should provide the ideal test as players fine-tune their games ahead of Royal Portrush next week.

Genesis Scottish Open Betting Preview

The Renaissance Club, Thursday 9 - Sunday 12 July

The Field

Chris Gotterup returns to Scotland looking to become the first player to successfully defend the Genesis Scottish Open after completing the perfect preparation with victory at last week's John Deere Classic. The American fired a stunning final-round 62 to claim his third PGA TOUR victory of the season and arrives full of confidence after last year's breakthrough win at The Renaissance Club.

Rory McIlroy once again headlines the field at one of his favourite venues on the schedule. The Masters champion boasts an outstanding record at The Renaissance Club, finishing T2, T4 and first over the past three editions. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler also makes the trip as he begins preparations for his Open Championship title defence, while U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark and PGA Championship winner Aaron Rai add further star power.

The depth of the field is exceptional, with Tommy Fleetwood, Matt Fitzpatrick, Jon Rahm, Ludvig Åberg and Scotland's own Robert MacIntyre all expected to contend. MacIntyre will be hoping to recreate the magic that saw him lift his national Open title in 2024 after narrowly missing out to McIlroy the previous year.

The Course

The Renaissance Club hosts the Genesis Scottish Open for the eighth consecutive year, with the Tom Doak design continuing to establish itself as one of the premier links-style venues on the professional calendar. Situated between the historic layouts of North Berwick and Muirfield, the course provides the perfect examination ahead of The Open Championship.

Although carved through pine forest when it opened in 2007, a land swap with neighbouring Muirfield allowed three spectacular holes to be built along the coastline, adding another authentic links element to the layout. The combination of strategic bunkering, exposed fairways and coastal winds ensures players must control both trajectory and distance throughout the week.

Scoring opportunities are available when conditions remain calm, but The Renaissance Club can quickly become a stern examination if the Scottish weather arrives. Chris Gotterup tied the course record with a second-round 61 during last year's victory, while Robert MacIntyre and Bernd Wiesberger share the tournament's 72-hole scoring record of 262.

Rory McIlroy

Proof that nobody is truly safe in a shootout, Griffin arrives at Deere Run in excellent form despite last year's surprising missed cut following his breakout stretch. The American has recorded two third-place finishes, two top-10s and another pair of top-20 results over the last two months, showcasing the consistency that has elevated him into one of the TOUR's most reliable performers. His T5 on debut here in 2024 proves the course suits his eye.

Ludvig Aberg

Bradley returns to the John Deere Classic for the first time in a decade after another solid performance at the Travelers Championship, where he defended his title admirably with a T14 finish. Since the Masters, he has produced five top-25 results and continues to rank among the elite ball-strikers on TOUR. If the putter cooperates, his tee-to-green excellence should create plenty of scoring opportunities.

Eugenio Chacarra

The Spaniard arrives in red-hot form after winning back-to-back DP World Tour events during June. Chacarra now sits third in the Race to Dubai standings, with another two podium finishes highlighting his outstanding recent consistency. This will be just his second appearance at The Renaissance Club, but his confidence couldn't be much higher heading into the week.

Marco Penge

Penge made an impressive return to competition last week after taking six weeks away to address physical discomfort. He admitted his iron play exceeded expectations during his T9 finish in Germany, suggesting the rest has done him plenty of good. Having finished runner-up in his debut at The Renaissance Club last year, he looks well placed to contend again if that ball-striking continues.
