A total of four horse racing meetings will be held around the country on Wednesday. Our attention will be on the higher quality meetings at Canterbury, Caulfield-Heath, and Belmont. Here’s our four best bets for Wednesday’s midweek metropolitan action - good luck to everyone following along!

Canterbury Racing Tips: Wednesday, June 17th
Race 4: Inglis Xtra Bonus Plate 1250m – 2:35pm AEST
(7) Claudel had a stack of trials before finally making her race debut, finishing second. She couldn’t reel the leader in but held off the rest of her rivals comfortably. Tim Clark should land a forward position behind the speed and expecting the daughter of So You Think to be finishing strongly. With any natural progression from her first race day experience, she will be hard to beat.
(8) Gatwick was runner up at Sale two starts ago before disappointing as favourite at Echuca last time out. She didn’t seem to handle the going, so that could be a concern here if it stays wet, with rain predicted for race day. From barrier three, she should lead or trail and can run a race at an each-way price. I am happy to back her too at the price despite some queries.
(10) Miss Supernova has been placed in both runs this prep, the latest when beaten two lengths. She shouldn’t be far away again and has each-way prospects.
Also backing: (8) Gatwick $8.50 (1 Unit)
(7) Claudel WIN
$3.10 (2 Units)
Caulfield-Heath Racing Tips: Wednesday, June 17th
Race 6: Hyland Race Colours Handicap 1000m – 3:20pm AEST
(8) Tennessee Bound is an unbeaten mare from three runs, winning by a length or more on all three occasions, including a 4.75-length demolition in a Benchmark 62 Handicap. Based on what we saw at her last two starts prior to a spell, she should be extremely hard to beat in this Benchmark 70 contest. Barrier four looks good and 56.5kg is a great first-up weight with the 3kg claim from Jabez Johnstone.
(11) Killiana captured the VOBIS Gold Rush in 2025 and is trying to return to that form. Her latest run was a touch disappointing as several runners ran straight past her. If she can improve third-up, she can finish in the money.
(2) Call To Glory has run fourth in both starts this campaign for Tom Dabernig and he gets a good chance to lead from the inside gate. He will appreciate any sting out of the track.
(8) Tennessee Bound WIN
$1.80 (3 Units)
Belmont Racing Tips: Wednesday, June 17th
Race 2: Glenroy Chaff Handicap 1000m – 1:00pm (3:00pm AEST)
(1) Flash Dancer looks to strike a suitable first-up assignment despite the outside barrier. A field of just seven runners should help the cause, and he has won a trial leading into this event. His only career win came last prep when racing fresh off a trial win.
(2) Pygmalion is another resuming and that’s how he races best. He has won and been runner up in two attempts when stepping out for the first time in a prep. Despite a fourth and sixth to finish off last campaign, both runs were full of merit and looks to have strong claims in this event.
(4) Sunset Session resumes also, finishing second in a trial, gets barrier one and has Clint Johnston-Porter in the saddle. There’s a lot to like about the gelding’s chances in this race.
(1) Flash Dancer WIN
$2.60 (2 Units)
Race 3: Morley Growers Market Maiden 1650m – 1:35pm (3:35pm AEST)
(1) Cannotstop continues the rivalry with Bend It Like Becks with both horses close to breaking their maiden status. Today could be the day for one of them. At the price, Cannotstop goes on top. Two runs back he finished a narrow second when beating home Bend It Like Becks. Last start, he finished behind that horse after racing behind him. Not sure where he gets to from the wide draw but has shown more ability than most of the field so far.
(2) Bend It Like Becks has been placed in both runs and looks ready to break the maiden. The widest draw could pose a challenge, which makes the current price hard to take. Like Cannotstop, he has shown more than his rivals to date.
(10) Enchanted Miss was placed at Albany two runs ago before finishing eighth here. She was well back on that occasion. Has each-way claims in the race.
(1) Cannotstop WIN
$4.20 (1.5 Units)
