Flemington Racing Tips: Saturday, May 16th 2026
Race 6: L.v Lachal Handicap 1600m - 2:50pm (AEST)
(4) Wonder Boy has drawn the inside barrier over the mile and he is a very consistent horse for Jerome Hunter. On April 18 he was favourite and came from midfield or just worse off and was way too good for them with 61.5 kg on the back. After that he came from well back again at Bendigo and almost got there getting beaten by nose when 2nd. Craig Newitt was on top last time and he stays on. Big chance if the track stays Good.
(3) Oh Too Good has been mixing her form of late but her best is good enough. She is fourth up from a spell now and should be 100% fit and the distance is the key here because she does like racing over the mile.
(1) Zahrann is very consistent and is first up here. Was 7th at Leopardstown in a Group 1 on September 13. A big watch.
(4) Wonder Boy WIN
$3.50 (2 Units)
Race 8: Hilton Nicholas TAB Straight Six 1200m - 4:10pm (AEST)
(7) De Bergerac hasn't won in a while and does need luck in his races but is one of the best horses in this race. From barrier 10 he will get back to near last with Craig Williams on but this race is easier than his last couple and he's form over the track and distance is very good. A Soft track might be better for this guy so punters might hope for rain by the middle of the meeting.
(12) Stolli Bolli won for us last start and he's dropping 4.5kg for this. He appreciated the fast tempo last time and Philosopher should be up there giving them a nice tempo again.
(6) Fancify is first up for the Cairon Maher stable and she does have a very good career winning strike rate having 17 from 19 races. She likes this trip and has two wins at Flemington. Over the odds.
(7) De Bergerac WIN
$4.40 (2 units)
Race 9: Murray Cox Handicap 1800m - 4:43pm (AEST)
(7) Skippers Canyon is the second favourite but is our number one selection here for the Phillip Stokes trained gelding. He raced against his main rival Mr Blunt here on April 25 and he ran very well getting done by 2.5L. He drops 5kgs for this and will appreciate the long Flemington straight. A Soft track will be best.
(11) Mr Blunt ran a good 2nd at Ballarat on April 3 and then backed that up with a good victory here over 1800 meters on ANZAC Day. He is the clear favourite for Tony&Calvin McEvoy and he remains with 54.5 kg. Declan Bates is on.
(5) Opening Address is 2 from 2 over this distance. He drops 5kg for this and he wasn't too far away when 6th behind Wonderboy at Mornington on April 18. On Pace Runner who will have to get across from barrier 11.
(7) Skippers Canyon WIN
$3.20 (2 units)
