The NBA Conference Semi-finals continue this Thursday (AEST) as home-court advantage takes centre stage. Following a series of Game 1 results and key injury shifts, the stakes at Madison Square Garden and the Frost Bank Center have shifted dramatically. We bring you our best bets for Thursday’s slate below!
The New York Knicks enter Game 2 as 6.5-point favourites following their dominant 137-98 victory in the series opener. New York established their physical identity early, controlling the glass and benefiting from a 35-point masterclass by Jalen Brunson. While the Knicks finished the regular season with a formidable 30-10 record at Madison Square Garden, the 76ers have shown they can compete in hostile environments. With Joel Embiid and Paul George looking to rectify their poor Game 1 shooting, Philadelphia has the star power to tighten this contest. However, the Knicks have won 46 of 49 games this season when finishing with a higher field goal percentage than their opponent, meaning Philadelphia must prioritise defensive efficiency to stand a chance.
The San Antonio Spurs find themselves in an unexpected 0-1 deficit after the Timberwolves orchestrated a 104-102 win in the series opener. Despite the loss, San Antonio remains a heavy 9.5-point favourite for the rematch. Minnesota benefited from the surprise return of Anthony Edwards, who managed 18 points in a limited role, yet they remain vulnerable without the perimeter scoring of Donte DiVincenzo. The Spurs' league-leading defensive rebounding and disciplined play style are designed to prevent consecutive home losses. Victor Wembanyama's historic 12-block performance in Game 1 suggests the paint remains a no-fly zone, and with a 32-8 home record, San Antonio is well-positioned to level the series decisively.
