Rosehill Racing Tips

Rosehill Gardens hosts a ten-race card this Saturday, January 31st 2026, boasting three Group 3 races. The JRA Plate for sprinters will be Race 8, while the juveniles compete in the Canonbury Stakes and Widden Stakes – Races 3 and 4 respectively. The rail is out 3m for the entire circuit and the track is currently rated Soft but could be upgraded to Good before racing commences on Saturday, with a sunny day and temperatures reaching 34 degrees.

Rosehill Racing Tips: Saturday, January 31st 2026

Race 4: Widden Stakes 1100m – 2:20pm (AEDT)

(9) Miss Scandal lines up for her first race start for trainer Chris Waller, off the back of two excellent trials. On January 2, she was powering through the line alongside Incognito, who is $1.60 favourite for the Canonbury Stakes. She then trialled on January 13, racing just behind the leading pair and not asked for too much effort. James McDonald rode her in both trials and will ride here – looks a strong chance.

(2) Hardanger is a Godolphin filly who chased home the smart Warwoven on debut, beaten 2.44 lengths over 1000m. With a freshen-up and one trial since that run, the daughter of Pinatubo should be ready to run a big race here.

(3) Miss Chanel should be on the speed from gate four and Regan Bayliss has picked up the ride for trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott. She was third on debut over course and distance when beaten 1.75 lengths by Outspan. Solid each-way claims.

(9) Miss Scandal

$2.45 (2 units)

Race 7: Precise Air Handicap 1200m – 4:05pm (AEDT)

(4) Roselyn’s Star is a model of consistency with three straight top-two finishes, including victory in a Benchmark 78 Handicap over 1100m at this track back in October. He was second at his return to racing at the Gold Coast. Regular jockey Zac Lloyd opts for Sixties, which gives James McDonald the ride. Looks an excellent speed map for Roselyn’s Star just behind the speed.

(9) Sixties is a three-year-old colt that was last seen finishing fifth in the Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m). Should be ready to run here fresh and his class should see him run a big race.

(3) Eye Of The Fire was a Randwick winner two starts ago and then ran second to Bev’s Nine who is unbeaten in four career starts. That looks a good form line for this race. Each-way claims.

(4) Roselyn’s Star

$2.25 (2 units)

Race 8: JRA Plate 1200m – 4:45pm (AEDT)

(5) Disneck was successful at Flemington in the Group 3 Standish Handicap (1200m) with a comfortable 1.75-length victory over Extratwo. Bjorn Baker’s five-year-old gelding tends to race better after a few runs into a campaign, so to see a victory after a brief two-month let-up could be a good sign. The smaller field of eight should suit as Joshua Parr will sit back and hope a few rivals put some early speed into the contest in order to run them down.

(4) Willaidow has early speed and would love to camp on Zarastro or The Instructor after drawing gate two with James McDonald in the saddle. The seven-year-old gelding resumes and has won twice from five attempts when fresh. Two trials have Willaidow ready for the JRA Plate.

(2) The Instructor is race fit with two runs under the belt this prep. Could park outside the leader and will be hoping for a fitness edge over most who are first up in this event. He was second in the Listed Canterbury Sprint (1200m) before running seventh in the $1 million Magic Millions Snippets (1200m).

(5) Disneck

$6.00 (1 unit)
