While the AFL is the most popular daily fantasy sport in Australia, Draftstars still offers a tremendous range of DFS contests during the footy off-season. There's NBA, Horse Racing, Golf, Cricket and NFL, and now they have added to that list with the return of fantasy NBL!
Basketball is a sport on the rise and the NBL have done some excellent things in recent years to improve the reach of their sport into new regions and age deomographics. It's a great sport to enjoy in prime time over the summer, and now you can enjoy it with a sweat over your fantasy teams.
With NBL Supercoach a shambles this season, Draftstars' fantasy NBL contests should fill the void nicely.
Fantasy NBL contests are played similarly to NBA contests on Draftstars, so those already involved in basketball on the site should have no problems jumping in. Points are scored for all the key stats of the game (points, assists, rebounds, etc), and whoever's team accumulates the most points comes out on top. The only key difference to some other sports is that fantasy basketball doesn't have positions for players. You just pick six players in the game from any position and stay under the salary cap, while one of your players will be your team Captain - costing 1.5x the salary but also scoreing 1.5x the points.
It all gets underway this Thursday with the Adelaide 36'ers up against the South-East Melbourne Phoenix.
The buy-in for the main contest is $15, and while the $3,000 prize pool is modest to start with, we hope to see plenty of people support this format so that we can get those prize pools even higher!
There's also a range of different contests for different budgets. Just head to the NBL tab to check out what's on offer.

We hope to see you in the game and landing some NBL fantasy slam dunks at Draftstars this season!
