2025 US Open Women's Final: Sabalenka vs Anisimova Preview & Betting Tips
Arthur Ashe Stadium, New York - Sunday, 6:00am AEST
Amanda Anisimova's Path to the Final
Anisimova's journey was highlighted by her stunning quarterfinal revenge against Iga Swiatek, winning in straight sets 6-4, 6-3 to avenge her devastating 6-0, 6-0 Wimbledon final loss from a couple of months ago. The American then survived a three-set semifinal against Naomi Osaka, coming from behind after losing the first set to win 6-7(4), 7-6(3), 6-3 in nearly three hours.
Aryna Sabalenka's Path to the Final
Sabalenka cruised through the early rounds without dropping a set, defeating Rebeka Masarova in the first round, Polina Kudermetova in the second, and Leylah Fernandez in the third round. The defending champion received a walkover into the semifinals when Marketa Vondrousova withdrew with a knee injury, then survived a challenging semifinal against Jessica Pegula, rallying from a set down to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 and reach her third consecutive US Open final.
Selection
The game total is an interesting option in this match-up. Sabalenka has shown some nerves at times in grand slam finals, which could allow for Anisimova to find her way back into this one if she loses the first set. If Anisimova takes the first set, there are likely to be some nerves from the American looking to claim her first grand slam, combined with Sabalenka’s experience at this level. With both coming from a set down in the semis, and the underdog Anisimova holding the head to head advantage, including a tight win at Wimbledon, the total games over 21.5 games will be the selection for this final.
