AFL Round 16 Saturday: Where to Attack?
Amazingly it is not North Melbourne or West Coast who are giving up the most points to midfielders on this slate. Rather, over the last 10 games, it is Gold Coast who have been giving up the most points in the league to inside midfielders at a massive 11 points per game above the league average. Not far behind Gold Coast is North Melbourne, who have given up over 10 points per game above league average over the same period. West Coast are giving up just 2 points per game above league average.
Where it is a big positive to attack the Eagles is with key forwards. West Coast are giving up a league leading 8 points per game above the league average to key forwards over the last 10 games and on this slate Collingwood are a massive 10 goal favourites, which means you can expect their key forwards to take full advantage of this matchup.
When it comes to backs on this slate the obvious team to target is Melbourne who have been giving up the most points in the league to the designated kicker (over 7 points per game above league average) and attacking half backs (over 13 points per game above league average).
Game Script – Gold Coast backs, Melbourne midfielders, Collingwood forwards
AFL Round 16 Saturday: Our Value Fantasy Picks
Daniel McStay ($9,630) will be the number one target for the Magpies tall forwards this week in a game where they are facing the worst defenders in the league against key forwards and are 60 point favourites. It Is really a lock and load play to roster Magpies key forwards this week and McStay has a nice upside of 124 points he showed earlier this season against Port Adelaide. If you are looking for alternate options or players to stack up with him consider Brody Mihocek ($9,940) or Tim Membrey ($9,060).
Edward Allan ($9,660) has been in top form in recent weeks with three scores of 73, 80 and 94 from his last four games. This week should be the best matchup of all of those games with West Coast conceding over 4 points per game above the league average for general forwards.
AFL Round 16 Saturday: Our Mid Price Fantasy Picks
Ryan Maric ($10,530) is a point of difference play on this slate given the Eagles opposition and his recent form. However, it needs to be noted that Tyler Dewar is out this week and he was the player who had taken Maric’s spot in the backline and pushed him up to the wing. Last week Maric did float back to take a single kick in, which was his first kick in in three weeks. An alternate option here is to go with new recruit Tom McCarthy ($11,820) who took 10 of the Eagles kick ins on debut last game to rack up 101 fantasy points, you will need to spend up here though and also have to play him in defence.
AFL Round 16 Saturday: Our Premium Fantasy Picks
Darcy Cameron ($16,470) is the premium play of the slate going up against West Coast as the sole ruck for the Magpies. West Coast are giving up the most points in the league to rucks over the last 10 games at over 14 points per game above the league average (a huge number). Cameron has been averaging 110 points per game over the last three games and shown 140 point upside this season against the team giving up the second most points to rucks this year, Geelong. Signs point to lock and load!
John Noble ($13,140) has seen a dip in scoring in recent weeks after a very hot start to the season. He is still taking the majority of the Suns kickouts (8 kick ins last week) and Melbourne are giving up the most points in the league to the position. Stack up Noble with other Suns value backs to optimise your rosters and get salary relief.
