Round 7 for the 2025 AFL Premiership season will get underway this Thursday night with a big all Victorian clash as the MCG between Melbourne and Richmond. The Demons are having a very disappointing season with just one win through six games and will look at this as a very good opportunity to get a second. Richmond, on the other hand, would be over the moon with their start to the year. With two vicotires, including a massive upset of the Gold Coast last week, their full rebuild has got off to a encouraging start.

Weather
26 degrees and sunny. Should be an absolutely beautiful Melbourne evening for football. Lets play!
Where to Attack?
As usual there are plenty of good options to attack when you get two of the worst teams in the league squaring off against each other. Richmond have been giving up the most points in the league to inside midfielders this season at over 6 points per game above the league average. Melbourne are not behind to the position at over 3 points above league average.
Melbourne have given up the most points in the league to key forwards, however with Steven May coming back into the team this week I would be wary of attacking this play. Meanwhile Richmond have conceded over 6 points above league average to both key forwards and general forwards.
When it comes to backs, both teams have conceded plenty of points and will be in play. Richmond have conceded a league high 10 points per game above league average to attacking half backs and wings.
Game Script – Melbourne inside midfielders and forwards
VALUE PLAYS
Judd McVee ($8,970) will come back in this week to a half back line in the Demons that has been getting a huge amount of football so far this year. He’s well priced first up in a single game slate and showed ability to score fantasy points last year that included a run of four straight games from Round 17 to 20 of scores of 71+. This is an elite matchup for half backs against Richmond.
Koltyn Tholstrup ($7,720) is highly rated by the Demons internally and will play high half forward. He managed 47 points in his first game of the season last year, but will have an easier matchup this week.
MID PRICED PLAYS
Kade Chandler ($9,290) offers a great upside potential in this matchup against Richmond. Over the years we have seen Chandler rack up huge ceiling scores of 100+ including a 117 point game against North Melbourne earlier this year. This should be the type of matchup where he can hit that level so he’s a great play for large tournaments. If you are looking for a safer option at this price point, I would swing to Jack Ross ($10,370) who has similar upside and will get opportunity through the midfield (attended 30% of centre bounces last week).
PREMIUM PLAYS
Max Gawn ($15,940) is a ruck I still don’t want to roster against as he concedes below average scores. On the other hand, rucks have gone big against Nankervis his entire career and both are priced up as premium options. Gawn is averaging 102 points per game this season and is in top form with back-to-back scores of 125 and 118 the last two weeks.
Christian Petracca ($14,760)… inside midfielders is the best matchup in the league this week against the Tigers. Stack up the Demons mids and start with Petracca. He’s priced nicely under $15k and has started to his better form with back to back 100 point games.
