The penultimate week of the 2019-20 NFL regular season is upon us! There are still plenty of races for playoff spots up in the air and as usual, we have a full preview and betting tips for some of the key games of the week below!
NFL Week 16 Betting Tips
Los Angeles Rams at San Francisco 49ers (Sunday, 12.15pm AEDT)
No Friday football in the NFL this week but there is a great triple-header of games on Sunday (AEDT) to look forward to. The triple header is headlined by a big NFC West clash between the 49ers and Rams from 12.15pm.
Both the Rams and 49ers will be coming off losses in Week 15, and Los Angeles in particular need a win to keep their slim playoffs hopes alive. The 49ers are in a tight duel with the Seahawks for the NFC West, currently locked at 11-3.
The Rams have had an up and down season so far but they have somehow maintained the best record in the entire league against the spread at 9-5. They start as 6.5 point underdogs on the road, where they are 5-2 against the spread this season. The 49ers are just 3-3-1 against the spread at home this year and haven’t covered the 6.5 point line in either of their last two games.
Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles (Monday 8.25am AEDT)
What a matchup we have on our hands here! The NFC East is wide open for the taking and the Cowboys and Eagles currently sit locked atop the division with a 7-7 record. Both teams have very winnable games against the Giants and Redskins in Week 17, so it’s likely that this game will decide who wins the division and makes the postseason.
The Cowboys are coming off a monster win over the Rams in Week 15 and will look to carry their offensive form into this week. Star running back Ezekiel Elliot racked up 160 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns as the Cowboys put up 44 points in the win. The Eagles also had a good win in Week 15, downing the Redskins by 10 points to keep their playoffs hopes alive.
Super tough game to call here with so much on the line. The Cowboys start as slight favourites on the road due to their big win over LA in Week 15. They seemed to find some form on offence, which is what they desperately needed after scoring just 16 points per game over their previous three. Like the Cowboys here in a must win.
Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings (Tuesday 12.15pm AEDT)
If one division battle wasn’t enough for you, Tuesday’s game provides another mouth-watering which will help decide the NFC North division. The Packers currently sit atop the division with an 11-3 record but are closely followed by the Vikings, who have a 10-4 record. A win for the Packers here would secure the division and give them a great chance at the first round bye in the NFC.
The Vikings travelled to Los Angeles and picked up an emphatic win in Week 15, downing the Chargers by 29 points. While it was the defence getting the job done earlier in the season, it has been the offence of the Vikings that has stood out lately. They have put up at least 27 points in four of their last five games.
Staying away from the spread here as we really think this one could go either way. Like the look of the under though. NFC North clashes are famous for being defensive slug-fests, especially with so much on the line and these two have combined for an average of just 36 points over their last five games. Take out a 58 point shootout in 2016 and that number drops to 31.
