Moonee Valley Racing Tips: Friday, October 30th
I think the best bet on the card comes up in the first tonight, with (7) Bobsled appearing very hard to beat. He’s run two placings from his first two starts but he didn’t get much luck last time out. The blinkers are applied for the first time tonight and as a result, I’d expect him to be ridden to lead early. With the rail out 5m, he should be hard to run down with the in-form Jamie Kah in the saddle. His biggest danger is (10) Imagine Howe who should appreciate returning to a good track tonight as opposed to rain-affected ground.

(1) Deep Speed is very short with the corporates but there is black odds available on the Betfair Exchange. He was very brave when winning on debut after sitting three-wide outside the leaders throughout. He comes across to Melbourne tonight and with any luck from the gate, he looks the horse to beat for the powerful McEvoy stable, who took out last week’s Group 1 Manikato Stakes here.
Tonight’s best value bet comes up in Race 7 in the form of (7) Sir Edwin Landseer. This former Irish import had 76 weeks off the track leading into this preparation, but he’s built nicely with each run this campaign. He sat three-wide the trip last start and still bolted in to win by 3L. That was only a class 1 and he will have to improve again tonight but the step up to 2000m should suit and so long as he gets a decent run from the wide gate, he can go well at double figure odds.
