Randwick Kensington Racing Tips: Wednesday, October 2nd

Best Bet: Race 3 - (1) Terwilliker

Best Value: Race 5 - (5) Ruthless Agent

Randwick Kensington Race 2 (Market)

Three horses I'm interested in here and I'll be backing each of them in what looks a really open race. There's not much separating a handful of horses at the top of the market but a few of those have well and truly had their chance to win a race so I think there's a good betting opportunity. (6) Astralis goes on top. She made her debut in a good form race behind Mandela, where she was running into the race but copped a check at the 150m mark which ruined any chance she had. She then came out three weeks ago at Canterbury and was run down very late to be beaten a head. She beat (3) Cock Match by 1.3L on that occasion and they meet at the same weights today, yet Cock Match is $4.40 while Astralis is $4.80. I can't work that one out. (7) Madam Legend is a good price at $7.00. She was caught four-wide no cover throughout the race on debut at Hawkesbury and was still only beaten 1.6L. She ran the best 800m-400m sectional. She gets a big jockey change today with Nash Rawiller replacing Christian Reith and she also draws the inside barrier. She's got great claims at a good price. Finally, I think (5) Shaibanat can improve first up in her second racing preparation today. I backed her once or twice in her debut prep but she didn't do much. She's had one trial coming into this which was very quiet and Kerrin McEvoy sticks with her for race day today after riding her in that. These Godolphin horses can often go very well fresh so at $16 I won't be losing on her. Backing Astralis ($4.80), Madam Legend ($7.00) and Shaibanat ($16).

Value: (7) Madam Legend $7.00 & (5) Shaibanat $16

(6) Astralis

$5.00

Randwick Kensington Race 3 (Market)

(1) Terwilliker beat a few of these at Randwick last start and even though he rises 2kg in the weights, I see no reason to suggest he can't win again today. He was fresh off a seven-week break leading into last start, he drew wide, settled at the back of the field, made a mid-race move to lead and fought them all off to win. He's run 1st and 2nd in his two starts over this track and distance and he's finished in the top two in four of his five starts at the distance overall. He's surely the one to beat again.

(1) Terwilliker

$2.90

Randwick Kensington Race 4 (Market)

(4) Miss Einstein blew them out of the park last start when winning by 6.8L on heavy ground at Warwick Farm. She returns to firm ground today which is the only little query, but her run on the good track two starts ago behind Subpoenaed was good enough to suggest she can win this as well. $1.90 is probably as short as I'd want her to get given it was the heavy surface which really brought about her dominance last start, but she does look the one to beat.

(4) Miss Einstein

$1.90

Randwick Kensington Race 5 (Market)

This is a competitive race but there's two I'm keen on. (3) Full Recognition beat Erno first up and then failed last start on the bog track. Forgive him for that and give him another chance back on firm ground here. He gets the blinkers back on, draws well and based on his first up win he should be very comeptitive here. The value is (5) Ruthless Agent at $16. He was only beaten 1.6L by Quadriga first up. He ran the best final 400m of the race without ever seeing daylight. He's got a good second up record with two wins and a 2nd from four starts and with any luck, he could shoot through late and cause an upset.

Value: (5) Ruthless Agent $16

(3) Full Recognition

$4.20

Randwick Kensington Race 6 (Market)

This is a very competitive race so I won't be betting big but I'm tempted by an each way play on (3) Bare Naked Lady, with more on the place than the win. She's placed in 10 of her 12 starts overall and has never finished out of the top two from three starts when second up from a break. She drops back from Saturday to Wednesday grade and drops from BM78 to BM70 company. She should be on speed and run an honest race at $9.00/$3.00.

(3) Bare Naked Lady E/W

$9.00

Randwick Kensington Race 7 (Market)

There looks only two chances to end the day here. (3) Sister Sledge comes here first up and makes her stable debut for Gerald Ryan, having formerly been with Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott. Her form from last preparation is very strong for a midweek race like this. First up last prep she ran a narrow 2nd to Rock, who has come back in terrific order this time in with three wins from three starts. Second up Sister Sledge won by 6L at Hawkesbury, before finishing down the track in the G3 Kembla Grange Classic last time we saw her. She looks ready to go fresh after two trials and if she brings her form from last prep she should be winning this. (5) Mayaaseh looks the danger and the value at around $8.00. She's won both starts this prep and now comes to town third up.

Value: (5) Mayaaseh $8.00

(3) Sister Sledge

$2.30
